"I'm writing this becasue I have had great success with the SportDog brand and especially this peeper-locator. I have had the SportDog 1850 for 3 yrs now and have no problems at all. I don't just use it in my yard either I have 4 dogs 3-GSP and a Golden Retreiver. I hunt every weekend and as many days during the week as possible during pheasant season. I'm in SD so it is rough, wet, cold, hot everything you could imagine. I have been very happy with the beeper and now I have a pup and was looking for another beeper and noticed other reviews stating they have not had good luck with them. This supprises me. I suppose now after writing this great review I'll have problems. (I don't think so)"

"The good is that SportDog continues to swap it out. The bad is that none have lasted. One started ignoring the transmitter (even after repeated reprogramming). One turned itself off. Now I have one that can only be heard from a few inches away. Only one has survived to make it on a hunting trip. In other words, the unit is getting beat up. The current dead one looks almost brand new - it's not even dirty. This is the beeper that comes with the 1850 and 1800."

"Before I purchased the add a beeper, I researched it as much as possible to make sure that this was what I wanted. I called the folks at Cabela's. I searched Cabela's web page, and also SportDog's web page. I even drove an extra hour an a half out of my way on a buisness trip speak to one of the folks at Cabela's in person. I wanted a beeper that would only activate on my command, and I was assured that this beeper would do just that in the silent mode. It will NOT. After waiting several weeks for the beeper to come in (it was on back order) I read the directions to find out that the silent mode isn't silent at all. If the dog stops moving, the darn thing beeps, screems, or what ever once every second. The last thing I really want to happen when my pup is holding a good point is for the colar to start screeming at her! Worse yet, I bought the colar used from a friend of mine. This beeper was the whole reason that I chose to go with the SportDog brand. I really like the colar, but this darn beeper is going back. The least that they could do is post an accurate description of how the add-a-beeper works so that you know what you are buying!"

"I have previously owned a Tri-Tronics beeper. It had some nice features but would quit working if my dog went for a swim. So far, The SportDog Beeper kept working fine even after 5 or 6 seperate swimming episodes. The only problem is that you need to purchase a SportDog reciever to access all the options the beeper has to offer, otherwise, you just get 1 tone that you cannot change."

"i have a sport dog sd-400 and added the add a beeper it seems to work ok except for the beeper weighs more than the transponder on the sd-400 and it always wants to turn when the dog is running and both the shocking device and the beeper is off to the side of there neck other than that it works good"
