Works well,November 18, 2009
By Merl1887from Dallas, TX
"It works well in my 20 Gal bait take and keeps the bait alive all day. Only thing I didn't like was that the rubber ring circling the base kept coming off."

Use of aerators in commercial fishery,October 27, 2009
By captainlingcodfrom Commercial dory fisherman, Big Sur, California
"These aerators are very important to me in my business as a commercial fisherman, who requires my fish to be kept live for the market (like live Maine lobster. They are the only type of aerator that creates a "whirlpool" current distributing the oxygenated water to all corners of the tank, and they allow greater fish capacity and better condition of the live fish. The degree of aeration also prevents bacteria growth and acts as a sort of filter/cleaner. On the other hand, the electric motors require maintenance, and have a couple of flaws. The copper brushes inside wear down and may cause the electric motor to fail. Heftier brushes are a recommended improvement in design. Also, the two wires wear from vibration where they exit the top of the motor, until there is no insulation and the wires short circuit. This can also be reinforced. Third, the plastic joint connecting the motor shaft to the rotating paddle can break (infrequent). Keep an eye on these three weaknesses. Finally, the stainless steel body and parts is a really good thing, but the nuts and bolts holding casing together are not stainless steel...they should be! Maybe these recommendations could be passed on to the manufacturer, who has done some other improvements in the recent past. The recommended reinforcements should not be too difficult to adapt, and would result in a far more dependable product."

Waste of time!,July 17, 2009
By mtlfshfrom Northern, Indiana
"Received the aerator and put it to work. Treated water and tested. All OK. Put 2,000 fatheads in tank. Everything going well. Fish happy, I'm happy. Pulled bait out and went fishing. After about a week of everything going well I went to check the tank in the morning. Typical procedures each day. Remove the dead and feed. Aerator stopped, several hundred dead. By the time I got back from work, all were dead. This aerator seems to be for short run times only, not long term. Would work to keep the bait alive for weekend fishing when you buy the bait the day before an early morning fishing trip. Don't count on it for long term runs. The motor seized up."

12 Volt Minnow Aerator,February 26, 2008
By Fishjefffrom Redding
"All I can say is that I am a Fishing Guide in California, I have replaced the areator a least once every season (sometimes twice in a season). My season is only 4 months long, the unit is not designed to get the motor wet, which happens on the river. The lower bearing wears out and the unit needs to be replaced.
Someone should design a better way to seal the shaft from water getting into the bearing area(s).
This is the only 12 volt areator I know of, but would love a suggestion of an alternative."

aerator,October 23, 2007
By chiefvailfrom cincinnati
"Unit does a great job of keeping the water aerated, minuses are you have to keep the tank full and the amp draw is high compaired to other pumps , if you have a system with a timer , this would be the way to set it up. Also written instructions and information is poor"

great for fresh water,October 22, 2007
By Leslie2from Newberry, SC
"This is my second minnow aerator. My first lasted several years but one use in salt water caused it to rust and freeze up. Even though it is marketed as stainless steel, the motor has many carbon steel parts that will rust quickly in salt water. I recommend this for fresh water only."

aerator,May 22, 2007
By PUDDIN234from NEW BOSTON, TX
"I like the stainless steel concept it should last longer than the other aerators. I seems to do the job i bought it for, but the only drawback i see it that it was quite a bit smaller than what i expected and shorter than the other aerators i have had.Other than that it is well built and should give me years of service."

aerator,May 21, 2007
By MRMCGIVERfrom MCHENRY IL.
"this agitator aerator moves the water well . it puts plenty of air into the water. you need to keep your water cold . i tried keeping the tank in my garage . the water got to warm . the fish produced to much ammonia . i had to change the water and move the tank basement. the bait shop said i need a water chiller and to change the water if i want to keep bait all summer . i live on a lake in IL..i am thinking about putting the tank in the ground in the shade to keep the water cool . this is the best aerator i have found on the market ."
