"The main issue I had with this ratchet lock boat cover is the lack of tie downs. One in the front with ratchet, one on the side for a bungee and one on the rear. I don't believe this will give spomeone towing a boat down the interstate enogh confidence the tarp will stay in place."

"MY BOAT IS A 17'-6"L. FISH/SK W/ A 72" BEAM AND A BOW MOUNTED TROLLING MOTOR. MY TOP IS A GREAT TOP, IT DOESN'T FIT THAT GREAT DUE TO BEING NARROW AND THE WINDSHIELD/TROLLING MOTOR. NOT MUCH I COULD DO ABOUT THAT. ITS A GREAT TOP QUALITY WISE AND BEING ON SALE WAS EVEN BETTER. THE MOTOR COVER THAT COMES WITH IT IS HUGE (WAY TOO BIG FOR A 60 HP OUTBOARD.) BUT IT HASN'T BLOWN OFF."

"I have purchased these covers for all my boats. Only negative is the ratchet mechanism...it is really cheap and breaks easily. Cabela's could not change it out under warranty, which is fine since the replacement would be just as cheap. I simply replaced it with a sturdier one. The cover material is very strong and the tie downs are more than adequate to keep the cover on tight. I've paid twice as much for lesser covers."

"I have a Lowe fm165 fish and ski (full windsheild) and a trolling motor. Purchased the 16 foot cover. LOVE IT. I have a quick release on the trolling motor so I take it off when using the cover. the width on this ocver is large so don't purchase a size bigger (recommended for trolling motors) just buy the quick release. shouldn't travel with it up there any ways. (damage boat and motor from bouncing). Ratch works great (MUST HAVE HOLES ON MOTOR MOUNT TO HOCK RATCH UP TO). Traveled at 75+mph for 120 miles with ZERO PROBLEMS 5 times. Doesn't leak, doesn't "pool" water, seams to be made tough." However, only owned for about two months!!!! NEAGTIVES (minor): 1)if purchasing because you want a motor cover then don't bother. VERY LARGE. would not recommend travel with. I use mine for storage only to prevent sun damage and dirt build-up. 2) Width size is fairly large. works great but for image purposes only, its pretty wide.
It does only come with 3 staps per side along with one ratch per side. seems like it could use more, however, it works just perfect. More may be better but so far I see no need to add more.
Again, I've ONLY owned this for a few months(why 4 stars not 5) but very pleased with everything so far:travels great, morns great, repells water great, doesn't pool water, quick and easy, ratches work very great, fits OKAY(width large). Also only paid 1/2 price on sale so that whats really makes this great. Would i pay full price now that I own it? Yes-if I could afford it!!!!"

"Unfortunately this is one of the first Poor ratings I have ever given. I have a brand new Alumacraft Dominator 175 Sport. I read all of the reviews for this cover and decided it would be perfect for me. I do a-lot of towing to lakes and wanted something durable and good looking for the new boat. On my very first trip to a Cabela's fishing tournament of all things I used my cover. It seemed to fit well and after 227 miles of towing it was still nice and snug......Until I took cover off and realized that the ratchet lok belt that was built into cover had rubbed right into the bow section of my brand new boats paint job! I was not happy! I will say the customer service I received in returning the cover was first rate and will continue to use Cabela's for my outdoor gear"

"3.5 stars. I ordered this cover on sale and for the price I cant complain. I have had it for 3 weeks. During that period it has rained hard, very hard. Because the cover does not fit all that tight (I have a one sided console and the cover is made for 2side) I had to build a small lift myself to keep the other side in the air. I also put a small upside down garbage can under the cover on the front deck to keep the cover higher because I knew water would pool, the boat has a very wide front. I wish I didnt have to do this stuff put I've tried other mechanisms sold commercially to keep things tight and none of them worked. As I said it has rained hard and even with my efforts there was some pooling on the cover. After each rainfall I checked underneath and never did I see evidence of any rain getting through. My biggest complaint would be the lack of straps. Only 3 per side is no where near enough on my boat. There is no way I would consider trailering this cover, it wouldnt last a mile. Then again I have yet to find a cover that I would trailer. Even the custom made cover that came with the boat (18ft deep v) new I wouldnt have trailered, its apparently just too difficult to get a decent fit with a one sided console. If anyone out there knows how it can be done, please let me know. The cover for the motor fits my 150hp merc fine but it isnt attached to the boat cover and could never be trailered either. It flies off in even a mild wind but, like I said, for the money......."

"I have 1999 Lund Pro-V 1775 17 1/2 Ft.. It has 2 windshields with 2 separate consols. The cover is made from amazing materials and fit from the bow across my 2 windshields perfectly. However, from the windshields back to transom was very loose. I think I needed more straps, because the cover was so loose that it would have torn apart before I could get to Canada."

"The cover is good, the straps aren't so good. The cover is durable and fits well. The product recommends you order a cover one size larger for trolling motors and it is a good idea. However if your worried about the cover not being wide enough, you can get away with a few inches here or there.
The straps are garbage and if you try and tighten them down they will easily rip apart. I bought bungee cords to hold mine down after 2 tie-downs broke when I first put on the cover."

"This is the second Cabela's boat cover I have purchased for this boat. The first one out-lasted the warranty, I expect this one will as well. The fit is even better than my last cover, it looks custom made for my Skeeter ZX190. The materials are weatherproof and corrosion resistant. I like the web belt sewn into the hem - a big improvement over nylon rope. I probably won't be using the rachets because it's simply easier for me to tie the rear belt to my transom saver. The other belts keep the cover very snug against the hull. The warranty is extremely important because most after-market covers just don't hold up. Overall, I am completely satisfied with this product. Thanks Cabelas."
