"The model shown above is not the one I bought. Mine is smaller and much more covenient to use. At half the price of the digital top of the line model shown in other fly fishing catalogs, this is a gem. Accurate ( I measured/calibrated it against my older, bend-over, stick-it-in-the-water/read model). Easy to use: pull it out by the supplied lanyard;point it at the water; push the button; look at the digital read-out temp. Done. Keep fishing....
Technology at its finest."

"I own a somewhat bigger version of this and I use it all the time (for cooking, not for fishing). The bigger version, which was pictured on the web site, fits comfortably in your hand and you use it much like a small pistol. The smaller version is more cumbersome to operate; although it might slip into your pocket easier. The limited temp range is fine for fishing applications but it severely limits its use for other things."

"The thermometer that I purchased was the MT-100 which is smaller and is a small cylindrical infrared thermometer with a keychain attachment. I was actually expecting it to be the larger thermometer with just a truncated temperature range. Also, I hoped that its error was better than it was. Unfortunately the error was not listed on the website. The package states that the error is 2% or 4 degrees Fahrenheit , whichever is greater. For most applications this is not a problem, but I was attempting to use it for an experiment in physics which would require a smaller error.
On the upside: it is small, easy to operate, and seems to be more accurate than the company predicts. It could make a useful tool for many applications; I have used it for beer homebrewing to check the temperature of wort while rapidly cooling it. It is on less thing to sterilize."

"Works well if you only wish to read surface temps. Simple to use and store. Reasonable price. Can be slipped into a vest pocket and secured with the lanyard. Seems accurate, but at times will catch a false reading if not close enough to the surface being checked. Still an amazing tool. You will not go wrong with this purchase. (Have not tried the Pro model)"

"It is very small! Much smaller than I thought it would be. In some ways it makes it very nice, easy to keep in a tackle box or fishing vest so that you can test the water temp when ever needed. But it is also so small it maybe easier to loose. The temp readings do seem accurate. Perhaps within a degree or so from what I can tell. I have only really used it in fishing applications so far so I cannot attest to its other uses, but I am sure it would work equally as well with them."

"I did not get the product that this picture shows, I ordered the product unseen from the store over the phone. I would have much preferred what the picture represents. The one I recieved does not have a laser light so that I can not accurately tell where the measurement is collected. The one I got is ok and does do the job, it just isn't exactly what I thought I would be getting."

"I bought it to measure water temperature while fishing a small local pond and I leave it in my truck with my gear. I work for a computer repair shop and it came in handy to diagnose a customer’s unit that was getting hot before boot-up.
It’s compact and lightweight, about half the size of a quality pen an comes with a lanyard so you can’t drop it unless you really try."

"This was a great inexpensive gift for a couple of my inlaws. It generated a lot of conversation and the both really enjoy them. Practically speaking, the thermometer seems to work well. It doesn't have a laser pointer which is a bummer, but I'm sure more expensive ones do. The accuracy is average. More apt to give you relative temps, than actual pinpoint accuracy. You have to get pretty close to the object to get an accurate surface temp. Overall, it is a fun gift for the price. But if you want to use it for really good accuracy and precision you should get a more expensive model."
