"The Gore Tex material is nice & lite. The zippers are upside down. I have owned many pairs of all types & all of them zip up, not down. They tend to zip open & the pull dangles free & hits your boots - very annoying. I wrapped them w/electrical tape to stop the banging around.
No clasps for loose end strings either. Depend on a shoe tie knot is not for real winter. Would have sent them back but refuse to pay shipping, so there they sit, rarely used & only use because of guilt."

"I haven't worn my gators because it's still winter here. I DO plan on using them when I ride my Goldwing in cool/rainy weather. I'm confident they'll drastically reduce the cold/wet air from creeping up my pant legs. No lining on inside shouldn't be a "warmth" issue because GoreTex typically blocks wind/rain very nicely."

"The gaiters worked as advertised. IN addition to keeping out snow and water, they did a fair job of keeping heat at the feet where it belongs. One place of improvement would be to sew the draw string to the back, and put in a quick latch at the front. Tying a knot behind the knee is difficult."

"I finally found a pair I could easily don and doff, that stays dry, with quality zippers and simple, under the shoe ties. And the price was right: to get close to the equivalent in local shops I would have had to pay $20 to $30 dollars more and settle for a stiff plasticised strap with a buckle under the shoe. As I do not like to have to fiddle with the top lace around the leg, I replaced it with a bungee string with a spring fastener: no more fixed tension on the calf, infinite adjustment and quick access to the top of your shoe, should your boot laces become loose."

"These are a real lifesaver in northern Vermont winters. They keep the snow out of your boots and the bottoms of your pants dry exceptionally well, and are easy to put on and take off. I am looking to modify the top tie strings with some form of elastic material to snug them more effectively, and come up with a small bungy to replace the underboot lace. Aside from this these have been wonderfully effective and durable, and a constant companion this winter in our knee-deep snows. Will spring ever come?"

"If you are going to use these then you will probably want to work on them a little. The string on the bottom that goes under your instep is not very practical. I tossed the string and made an elastic and hook strap. The drawstring at the top comes loose as it is hard to make a tight shoestring knot that doesn't loosen. I added cord toggles and I will replace the string with an elastic one very soon. These two flaws kept me from giving this product 5 stars. Otherwise it is a good pair of Gore-Tex gaiters. Why they did not use some elastic and hardware is beyond me."
