All in one versatility, November 2, 2009
    By Everest from HOLDEN MASS.

"Everything you would want in an emergency radio. Three power options and even an adapter to charge your cell phone. Last winter we had an ice storm that left the NE without power for days. I wish we had this radio/flashlight/weather station then. Carry case allows for batery storage. We keep it along with our other emergency items. Don't think twice and wish you had it when the time comes."

    pretty good, April 7, 2009
    By cryoguy from Il

"We used this one time this winter when our power was out due to storms. The reception was good and the weather band came in well also. The crank charge doesn't last all that long, but its' pretty good for the price."

Good reception. Well built., April 1, 2009
    By aubrey from Fayetteville, AR

"This radio tunes in AM/FM very easily. I can pick up 3 different weather stations in my area. Alert mode works very well, and the hand crank feels sturdy.

My only complaint is that the AC connector cord does not fit in the carrying case with the radio. They should have just made the case 2 inches taller so you could fit the cord, but instead you have to find another way to transport it with the radio.

solid radio with decent sound, January 5, 2009
By rjcalif from California's central coast

"Bought the FR400 for my wife as a gift... yeah, I'm not the jewelry type. It replaced her 20+ year old Sony portable that finally died. I figured having the NOAA bands and the hand crank was a added benefit. The FR400 is well made and pulls in FM and AM stations well. The TV bands are iffy at best due to where we live. It's only real drawback is it's fairly large and the controls are fairly small. The on/off knob is the smallest and not well labeled - thus my 4 rating vs. 5. I would buy the FR400 again or maybe spring for the next model up with the digital tuner."

    Eton FR400 Weather-Resistant Emergency Radio, December 9, 2008
    By queenbee1962 from New York

"Recently, my family went a few days without power! We had to go to our car to listen to the radio...not fun in bad weather! So, we decided to purchase this radio, hoping it was as good as the description stated.

It WAS! and more....we are very impressed with the reception! My husband brings it out to show all his friends when they stop by! A little ridiculous, but we are that impressed with it! Everything works too!!! The crank, batteries, alarm...everything. We literally took it out of the package, cranked on it a couple of time as instructed and woola.....radio!

Works as advertised, September 9, 2008
    By tutorturtle from Billerica MA

"For a lightweight portable weather radio, it works as advertised. The alert feature worked flawlessly. I didn't try the hand crank other than to test that it will run the unit, it would have to be a true emergency to sit there and crank away. It is a good thing they include the wall adapter, I bought the FR300 for home and it didn't come with one, and I couldn't find one to meet the required specifications anywhere, the factory discontinued selling the one they show on their website."

    EXCELLENT VALUE, August 6, 2008
    By TJDC from Washington, DC

"In my opinion, every family needs to have one of these in their home and with them on car trips. It does exactly what its supposed to do and is considerably cheaper than its competitors. In the event of a national emergency or even just a power outage, this unit saves the day."

    Over-rated little radio, July 10, 2008
    By donrealsearch

"All the features seem like a bargain, but the rechargeable battery drains even without using any feature. It will not hold a charge. The AM will not pull in hardly any station, even though there are plenty of stations in my area. The fm will not stay on signal without almost constant adjustment. The NOAA functions does work with good signal strength.
For a regular customer of Cabelas, it seems to me that this product needs some fine tuning to be worthy of any promotion.
    Overall, it was a disappointment.

    ETON FR400 RADIO, July 2, 2008
    By buyer

"The radio has good reception, clear sound, excellent emergency radio. (Would be just "perfect" if ran on solar power too...) I doubt that is is really very water resistant, especially around the battery panel, which doesn't seem to close so tight. Concerning the cellphone charger, I had absolutely no trouble getting the adaptor: I received it two weeks after I sent my request. (Though, I didn't take any chance and emailed my demand with a specific message as well as sending my registration card...) Would recommend this radio with no hesitation."

Gets the job done, June 9, 2008
    By cheyennewyoming

"overall I believe this is a good purchase. I dont recommend taking the radio cmping without batteries cause the crank charger only gets you about 10 mintues of radio time. The weather radio with alert is GREAT because i recently moved to a tornado prone area. Although my fiance was kinda shocked that i spent that much money on a little radio. It is worth it."

OK but can be better, June 9, 2008
    By SWMissouri from SW Missouri

"What I like about this is the wind up for emergencies, reception is good, Alert mode and it came with a power adaptor. What I do not like is that you cannot select a county, so if you choose alert mode for instance in the middle of the night in tornadic weather, you will be awoken by every thunderstom, flood, and tornado, watch and warning in EVERY county within its reception."

Easy to operate, durable and good looking. I am thinking of ordering a second one.

    AMC FR400 Eton Radio, February 20, 2008
    By Tinker1547 from Nicholasville Kentucky

"Only thing I've ever purchased from you that resulted in disappointment. The radio is advertised as being capable of charging a cell phone and then I found that it was incapable of charging my Motorola V3 cell phone because the voltage produced isn't sufficient to do so."
