way to much $$$$,July 31, 2009

"I fell in love with this air gun when I saw it at a Cabela’s store I went over and picked it up. It just seemed to fit my hand then I shouldered it and then I looked threw the scope. WOW, now that’s a nice scope. So about a week later I came back and bought the gun. I couldn’t wait to shoot it so I quickly mounted the scope, grabbed some pellets and headed out to the range. After about 100 rounds I started getting some groups but they where 1 1/2 to 2 inch groups at 20yds I was expecting better then that. I could never really get this thing to group real well. The best group I got was from Gamo match. And they printed about 1 inch groups at 20yds but at 30yds it was anyone’s guess where the pellet would go. I did how ever hit a ground squirrel at 70yds those mil dots really come in handy. But after about 5 months the scope broke so I took it back. If you’re going to spend that much money on an air gun your best bet is the Gamo CFX it’s AWESOME."

On target, about time,March 28, 2009
By Bbigbirdfrom Virgina/Penn
"This is a good air rifle for the price. I have been shooting this thing all winter @ 25 rounds a day. Got it dialed in to shoot 3/8 in groups at 10 meters, not a Target rifle but it sure knocks the tree rats and grackles out of the trees at 25 yds' It has taken alot of ammo to get the rife to close the groups to 3/8 in groups. I don't know if that will shrink but I do know that with out a Bench rest mount the gun shoots better than I do. I havent cleaned it alot because each time I do the groups get bigger and it takes about 50 pellets to get it to3/8s but give it some time. Avoid the PBS pellets they may be faster but I cannot get the stupid things to group at all. No matter how fast the bullet is going unless you hit what you are aiming at you are wasting time and money."

Awsome,April 2, 2008
By Squrrielhunterfrom Montville, CT
"this rifle is one of the best i have had the pleasure of owning. I may be only 15 but i am an avid hunter and love to be outdoors. This rifle is amazing, the scope is powerful and it is sturdy aswell as solid. It has a nice weight to it so getting a shot off is easy. With this rifle sighted in as well as mine is then i would say this would make hunting to easy!!"

Cabelas thumbhole Rifle,March 8, 2008
By JIMAX
"This Gun is amazing. At first i wasnt sure i liked the thumb hole but with a few shots a grew to like it. this gun can almost make it all the way through a phonebook with a gamo rocket and the gamo PBA pelles. this is a really good air rifle for its price. this is a really good set up. the scope is top quality and accually is deacent for night shooting. the only proublem is sighting the gun. it is really difficult. Overall this is a really good, fast, and sweet gun."

Outfitter Thumbhole Air Rifle,February 22, 2008
By John850from Georgia, Certified Police Firearms Instructor
"The first Thumbhole Air Rifle I received did not work and had to be sent back. Further, it arrived with gouges in the stock. Its replacement has been difficult to zero. I am disappointed as Cabela's products are generally of excellent quality"

"This is one sweet setup. Have done a rough sighting in and shoot one inch groups at 25 yards from a rest. Will fine tune it after the snow goes away but am VERY pleased with the gun and scope. Will be awesome for target practice and small varmints."

good looking gun,February 18, 2008
By dannrfrom Georgia
"The gun arrived quickly and I couldnt wait to shoot it. The thumbhole stock feels great and the scope is awesome. Took the gun out on a saturday to sight it in. Shooting a distance of 10-15 yards I was grouping about two inches. I dont think that is good for the price I paid for this gun. I have not given up on the Cabelas gun yet. I'm going to try an assortment of pellets and shoot from a bench. This gun is too good looking to give up on so easily. I have bought products with the Cabelas name on them in the past and have been satisfied. This time I am disappointed. I would like to know who is making this gun for them."

Nice Air Rifle,December 23, 2007
By Anonymousfrom Bellaire, OH
"I bought an air rifle about two months ago. I agree with previous reviews on packaging. Could be alot better. One lens cover was broken but I was able to glue back together. After mounting the scope, I was suprised that it took about 30 shots to sight in. I have probably shot the gun over 100 times and have had no problems. I feel that this is a nice rifle for the money spent.
The only dislike that I have is in the trigger. I feel that it could be made more crisp and lighter pull weight. I have tried to adjust but have not made much different.
I would like it if the safety was mounted on top of the rifle and not in the trigger area.
Overall, I would recommend this rifle to my friends."

An honest non-biased review....,October 3, 2007
By Night0wl5880from Roanoke, VA
"It looks as though it's that time of year again when the pesty rodents in the trees and on the ground are going after the acorns and making a mess of everything. I ordered the thumbhole rifle from Cabelas to help with the situation at hand. Rifle came quickly. Box within a box packaging. Scope was wrapped in plastic and inside of rifle box, not attached. All in all packaging was pretty good. I took everything out and started to assemble. Who actually reads directions first. You know how to mount a scope! Just kidding I did look over the instructions. Good thing to since the scope mount is attached to the scope and you have to remove the scope to properly attach the mount to the rifle. This is due to a set screw that goes through the scope mount and down into the rifle for a more secure mount. If you just mount the scope as it comes you will miss this. The scope was pretty well beafed up. It has a lot of options on it and looks pretty nice. I like the scope all in all though it is probably a little much for this rifle. The first few shots with the PBA ammo were quite loud! I was supprised how loud they were. It quieted down after about 10 shots though. Be prepared to shoot at least half of your free PBA ammo sighting in the scope. Maybe that is why they give you the stuff for free!?! Anyway I do like how the scope has target turrets that allow for easy dialing of the scope. Once you have sited it in you can re-zero your scope and lock the turrets down. Another good feature of the scope. The triger on the rifle I felt was quite inconsistant. This is what has made me give the rilfe a lower score. The trigger was very heavy and often you wondered if the two stage was working or not. I adjusted the trigger as stated but of course that adjustment is for the second stage and not the first. So it really didn't help the situation. When you are shooting its very easy to pull the rifle since the trigger is so heavy. Remember your not shooting from a bench rest every time. I can't tell the chipmunk to hold on while I set up my bench to shoot you. There was a small crack in the stock up by the cocking mechanism. I would say that Cabelas would have no idea about this since they don't actually inspect them. Looks like the rifle is being made for them by Crossman. It is a pretty rifle with alot of perks. It is made in China. That doesn't bother me so much. As far as accuracy goes well it could be accurate but it was to hard for me to tell if it was the rifle shooting off or me trying to pull the trigger that was making the mistake. I was able to shoot groups of 2 inches at 20 yards. I think it could do better and no I did not set it in a vice and shoot it. All my shots were free hand. The rifle has been sent back for a return because of the crack. I don't know if I am going to get the same one or not. Hope this helps."

Cabela's Air Rifles,May 15, 2007
By DoctorOverboostfrom Putnam, Connecticut
"This is the first time I have ever complained about a product or its shipping. I was disappointed for several reasons. The gun and scope sent to me were as requested. The scope was packed separately. One of the tabs on the front scope cover was broken off and not in the box. The gun has a scratch on the stock suggesting it was used before. I don't really care about the scratch... I'll make more, but it does indicate that the product was likely returned as unacceptable. I have had the privilege of using an RWS air rifle many years ago. The trigger action was impressive. Frankly, I expected the same level of quality from any product with the Cabelas name attached to it. Unfortunately, the trigger action on this rifle is terrible... long pull, inconsistent break and heavy. The speed of the pellets is very fast with the PBA ammo but accuracy is still poor. About a one foot circle at 100 feet. The stock looks and feels nice. The cocking effort is good. The gun seems heavy but more stable as a result. Overall, however, a poor investment."

"This is a gun manufactured in China. Quality is fairly good but these guns however will benefit from some work by a competent air gunsmith. They are generally fairly accurate as delivered but may be improved by trigger adjustment, cleaning of the bore, and proper lubrication of the internals to elimate the twang/buzz that all spring powered guns exhibit. If a scope is used a set of adjustable mounts may be in order for some guns. All things considered a decent gun for the money."
