    smoking perfection, November 4, 2009
    By DavidfromSLC

"I had been wanting to get my hands on a good smoker for years, as a cheap one I purchased years ago turned out to be a dud. Needless to say, I was much more patient in looking for the right one for the job, and after some research and reading countless customer reviews, I decided to purchase the Bradley Digital Smoker in August 2009. It was a good decision. I love this thing! I've used it four times now, spareribs (twice), baby backs, and a turkey breast, and they've come out perfect every time. It's really a set it and forget it kind of situation, for the most part. The bisquettes burn off one every twenty minutes, and with seperate timers for smoking and cooking, it's really easy to set exactly as you like it. I cooked spareribs for six hours (smoking them for three) at between 210 and 220 degrees (easy to adjust manually if the temperature gauge shows the heat rising or dropping inside the unit) and they were just perfect. The only thing I have to do now is figure out how to make the perfect sauce. So many cookbooks, so little time."

"I have to admit when I first received the Bradley Smoker, I thought I had purchased another piece of junk. When I first got it, the oven would not work and after a few voltage checks and some OHM's check, I figured it was the cord from the generator to the oven. Called Bradley and they sent me a new one and it has worked great ever since.
I smoked a chicken with the apple biscuits and it tasted great.
Also, smoked a ham, some antelope and all have turned out fantastic.
I am still an amateur, but love to try different things.
I would recommend this anyone, a little pricey, but any time you get into electronics it get a high price.

"I have never smoked anything before in my life and this unit makes it simple. you can set it and forget it if it is a tried and true recipe or adjust it as you go with a simple touch of the buttons on the fly. Worth every penny. Glad I didn't go cheaper and get less. Set it up, go to work, come home and it's done. Have already done jerky and salmon with excellent reviews."

    Awesome Smoker, September 7, 2009
    By Killian93x from Southern Minnesota

"Have used the 4 rack manual temp control model many times and am now getting pretty good at it. There's definitely a learning curve to smoking meats if you have never done it before. Wish I would have gotten the 6 rack digital temp control model so I wouldn't have keep such a close eye on it. The temp isn't very even through out the smoker so you will still need to rotate racks around a bit. I installed mine in my basement to make it easier to smoke during the long Minnesota winters. Using a chimeny cover, some duct work, and an in-line duct booster fan I plumbed the smoke exhaust into my hot water heater exhaust. Works really well and the house never gets smokey at all. If I am going to rotate racks I simply turn on the duct fan for 5 minutes ahead of time to evacuate most of the smoke. You can't eliminate all the smoke but it does a pretty good job. I would recomend this product but would recommend the 6 rack digital model. When doing jerky I wish I had the extra capacity so I wouldn't have to do so many batches. Might try doubling up the racks sometime to see how that works."

    Bad Smoker, March 20, 2009
By RibSmoker from San Antonio, TX

"Do not buy this smoker. The element is to small. The digital controller will control up to 320 degrees, unfortunatley, the 500 watt element will only get the smoker up to around 200 degrees. Also, the element is located in the rear of the unit, right below the temp sensor. The back and top of the smoker gets warm, but the front is 70 degrees cooler. The cooking racks are a minimum of 40 degrees cooler than the setpoint.

The heat is so uneven that you can't effectively cook anything consistantly, and good luck if you put more than 5 pounds of meat in this thing. Three racks of ribs took over 15 hours, and they still weren't done.

"One of the best smokers I have every purchased. I have used charcoal, gas, and other electric smokers but this one is tops. Cooked a boston butt and it came our wonderful!! The only criticism I have is that it will not heat the maxium temperature. The best thing about this smoker is that you load it up and forget about it!"

    Good Smoker, January 21, 2009
    By KSK1 from Montgomery Alabama

"This is a great smoker, I've used it several times since we got it. My wife asked for this smoker for Christmas! It does a great job and cleans-up pretty quickly. We've washed the racks, bowl and other internernal part in the dishwasher and they come out great. The smoker does use the wood bricks pretty quickly, but I've learned that I don't need to have smoke all the time. The last thing I smoked (short ribs and they were great) I didn't use smoke during the last hour. I am very pleased with this smoker...I'd recommend it to anyone with any level of experience."

"Pretty neat little smoker, they do have problems but Bradley has great support, I received mine 12-3-08 had issues with the puck advancement last week called Bradley and they immeadately shipped me a new complete generator assembly, no hastle whatsoever. After opening up the problem unit, I found that I can easily repair it leaving me with a back up generator unit, it's not a perfect world but Bradley does everything that they can to resolve any issues quickly.
Let me not forget...everything that I have smoked in this unit has turned out awesome.

    Bradley digital 6 shelf, December 15, 2008
By Anonymous from Indian River, Michigan

"Your first surprise with this smoker is that it is not as big as the picture makes you think it is. The good news is that it holds 20 lbs of sausage links with out a problem. I made my sausage the width of the shelves to facilitate this. At settings below 220 degrees, the heating bar heats uneven -- hotter on the left side where the electrical connection is. However since I use mine outside in colder weather the higher temps work better. (add 25 degrees to recipe temp) You will have to rotate meat halfway (top shelf to bottom and so on) to cook evenly because the heat bar is on bottom of unit. Don't stack more wood briquettes than you need because they do not like damp weather and tend to fall apart. Clean the smoke burner after each use or bricks will jam on any burnt spots.

The ability to cook longer than smoking is a great feature and helps control flavor without over smoking. I have also made venison jerkey and it is important to cook longer than smoke cycle. Buying extra teflon jerkey shelfs and doubling them up (one up, one down) allows for a large batch of jerkey and stills work good.

Overall I like the unit and would recommend it. Relatives like the flavor and cooking of sausage they got for early xmas gifts. Wife even said sausage "wasn't bad" which is a good complement from her

    Bradley Smoker, December 9, 2008
    By Anonymous from Rochester, NY

"We have been making venision jerky in the oven the past few years, and finally splurged for a smoker.
Assembly was very easy as was initial start up.
There are two power buttons, one for oven only, one to engage the smoker heating element.
The smoker power button needs extra pressure to engage, making me think something was wrong with it. After a call to the company, they are aware of this and just encouraged me to 'push harder'. (Which actually does work)
You set the drying time and seperately set the smoking time. These functions worked great. the unit shuts off when done.
However, to get really good results, you need to rotate the racks half way through the process.
After several runs, the temp guage stopped working. I called the company, and without any hassle, the sent an entirely new, complete smoking unit, and told me to keep the old one.
Great company, really stands behind the product.
The results of the jerky was fantastic. Much better than in the overn.

Good idea bad design, November 15, 2008
    By smokepro from pure Texan

"I have been smoking various meats for 32 years and have used all kinds of smokers mostly designed and fabricated by me. I have won several cook-offs with my meats so I know what I am talking about when we talk smoked meats. I am getting too old to attend the smoker all night so I thought I would cheat and try this newfangeled electric smoker. I immediatly looked for ways to improve on the design but found the smoker box to be perfect. I loved the set and forget idea of cooking and loved the perfection of the meats that come out of it. Thats the pros, now here are the cons. The digital system is poorly designed! When you close the dampers at the top, condensation forms in the box, running down the sides and finds it's way into the smoke generator. This moisture ruins the electronics, swells the pucks and jams up the delivery system. If you purchase the digital model you will be very happy with it the first 2 or 3 times you use it, but if you ever close the damper to dense smoke you will ruin the unit."
