Hodgan Hip Caster Boots,
September 6, 2009
By Ebolastar
from Wet In Connecticut
|
"Started leaking in the 2nd season. I thought the seams would leak first and took extra care not to let the boots lay flat and fold anywhere. Stuffed them with newspaper to make them round. Hung them upside-down by the heels. Didn't do any good. Now I'm looking for a better pair. I won't buy these again."

Not Up To The Job,
July 15, 2009
By LilTwunny
from Long Island, NY
|
"I purchased these boots to wear while guiding on a special restrictions river (No felt/ chest waders). I had the first leaking problem in the second season, and from then on I had to keep patching them. After 3 years I am giving up and will look into purchasing a new pair, but NOT Hodgmans. The problem I have is sizing - I need a small size and unfortunately, not many companies make a hipper without felt in a size 5. If you only fish a few times a year, and don't do alot of walking these hippers might last you awhile, but if you do alot of traveling on the stream they will not last."

Wont last long!!!,
July 8, 2009
By Riverman64
from Madison, WI
|
"I've had a pair of these Hip boots for 3 years. In the second year the right foot split at the flex point and leaked. This year the left heal came unglued and starting leaking. I called Hogman and they said they have a 1 year warranty. Don't expect these to last too long. They are OK for 20 days worth of work, but you should probably look elsewhere for a longer lasting product. I WONT EVER BUY HODGMAN AGAIN!!!"

'appy wader,

By bigchuckster
from So Calif

"These waders fit quite well. I like the fastners above the calf. The belt fastners are designed so that when they wear out I will be able to replace them easily. The bottom of the foot will be easy to keep clean when I go from one stream to another."

almost perfect,
October 16, 2008
By crabnasty
from puyallup, WA

"These are great, I've actually used them 4 time since purchasing them for trucking around in the river for Coho and Chinook salmon up here in the Pacific northwest. However, two thing show themselves really quickly. One, there is hardly any arch support at all. Two, the bottom of the book should be tougher or have fiberglass or hard insert in the bottom. If you step on a hard rock, you feel it. If trudging around in the sand or pebble shore its not a problem. The ease of getting them on and the shoring up on your calves with the snap and shoestring does the trick. They have come off in the water yet."

"Good quality, resonable price, quick delivery, and comfortable shoe with sole that works well in mud. What more can one want - different lenghts and not one size fits all! Being only 5' 6" tall, boots are longer that my legs and there is no length adjustment."

"i got these to replace my other waders that i bought last year they were on sale i use them for fishing and spring turkey season. i got them out to use this year for fishing and found that they were cracked and one of the straps were missing.need less to say when i put them on there was a hole in them on the leg part so now i'll use the old ones for hunting in the spring hunting.the ones i got from Cabela's will be used everytime i go fishingi tryed them on and found that they were a little longi can live with that i like the fill of them and can't wait to wade with them i would recommend them to any one that would ask about them but make sure that they'll be a little tallker then me.i would have given them a 5 but the way that they're a little to long the 4 is the best i can give"

I'm SO not a fisherman....,
September 17, 2007
By Currants
from Eastern MA
|
"...but I needed hip waders to tackle the purple loosestrife that's trying to take over our pond and crowd out the wood ducks, herons, and other aquatic life. They were sufficient for that evil task. Seriously, they work pretty well. My only complaint was that my shins got roughed up a bit from them, and that's probably my own fault: because it was so bloody hot in August, I wore them with only wool socks and shorts."
