    Good Stuff, November 19, 2009
    By Alfalfa2 from Grand Junction,Co.

"This has been a great parka, thus far. I had it out in a lot of wet snow and rain, and the dry-plus worked fine. At 2-degrees, it was plenty warm. It looks and fits nice. The only thing I would change, is that I would would have a metal zipper. Also, I had it in a forty MPH wind and the dry-plus stopped the wind. This is a very good product."

"This is probably the first thing I have ever returned to Cabelas! The coat fit well. but the neck and hood were TOTALLY out of proportion. I think I'm going to try their trooper parka,,, it looks similar."

    GREAT JACKET!!!!!, January 13, 2009
By NewTex from Texas Hill Country

"I live in the Texas Hill Country. During the winter, when we get the Blue Northers coming down from Oklahoma this jacket keeps me snug and warm while sitting out in the open on a tractor, exposed to the sleet and rain, while taking the round bales to the cows in the field. Its GREAT!!! does the job. cant ask for more than that."

    Great Product, March 21, 2008
    By lundfisher from Acworth, GA

"I am very demanding of my equipment and this product (along with matching Bibs) totally filled my expectations. I had previously purchased another parka from Cabela's and returned it because the hood was to small and I like a FULL hood that wraps around my face when drawn.
The parka and bibs are warm, do an excellent job of breaking the wind and keeping one dry. My only suggestion would be to modify the bib overall (pants) zipper to avoid having to undo the suspenders and lowering the overalls when answering natures call. Small inconvenience when you consider the overall functionality. Just drink less COFFEE or whatever!

    Roughneck Parka, February 22, 2008
    By Shoppinguy from Northeastern Pa.

"Too new to have given it a full try just yet but I can say that I like the feel of it. It's comfortable on the cold days I've worn it. Plenty of pockets to store stuff in and I think the black color looks nice enough to wear out casually. The hood feels a bit awkward when worn laid back (not pulled up over my head) in that it's lumpy, if that describes it. The bulge makes it especially awkward when driving my pickup.
Overall, I think for now I can rate this coat as an excellent product and, for me at least, at a very good price.

If you "live" outside, you should have this., February 13, 2008
By nonameavailable from Upper Potomac river MD

"Warm, waterproof, and windproof... combined with the bibs you will stay warm even during periods of little activity.
the ONLY gripe I have with this parka is that you cannot zip it up to cover your face like a "storm flap" and you would need a very long neck to have the collar stop below your chin. Having said that, I used my "suit" on a striper fishing trip in January, 30 mph wind from the east, 10-12ft seas (sometimes 15ft) water crashing over the TOP of the boat.. and I stayed warm and dry ALL DAY!! 'nuff said...!

Warm, very warm., February 6, 2008
    By not2cold from Rochester, NY

"This is my second Western NY Winter season with this Parka (I also got the matching bibs) and let me tell you both will keep you unbelievably warm.
So much so that I have put both this Parka and the Bibs on over my PJ's to go out and shovel the walk and driveway before bed at night (it seems to never stop snowing up here) and within 20 min's or so of shoveling I will be breaking out in a sweat. This with the Air Temp being between 22 and 32 degrees F with 10 mph winds.
This Parka will stop the wind (you won't feel a thing) and the rain, snow, sleet, and hail while leaving you dry on the inside.
The shoulders and Arms fit alright but I do agree that the hood is a bit big.
Both the Parka and Bibs have held up to being thrown in the washer and dryer (following instructions) without any loss of effectiveness or fasteners breaking off. Very good quality and workmanship.
Overall I very pleased with my purchase. A word of advice however, don't bundle up to much under this if your going to be very active esp. if wearing the bibs.
I only gave it four stars cause everything can use some improvement

"THE JACKET WORKS WELL KEEPS YOU DRY AND WARM.THE DRAWBACK TO IT IS THE NECK OPENING IS TO SMALL AND THEREFORE THE ZIPPER WILL NOT GO ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP TO KEEP RAIN AND SNOW OUTSIDE WHERE IT BELONGS AND NOT INSIDE THE NECK OF THE COAT AND THE PULL TAB ON THE ZIPPER BROKE OF IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS"

Warm, dry and well made., January 20, 2008
    By RSC100 from North Texas

"I purchased the parka on sale in the fall. At the time it was only available in black. When the days are cold the parka comes out. It is always warm and dry. It also sheds rain like a duck. It is easy to keep clean and looks nice. I look at it as one of my better bargain buys. It is even worth its non-sale price."

Good Quality Stuff!, January 7, 2008
    By Quicksilver53 from Northern California: 33 - 48 degrees F.

"I bought the bibs that go with this parka also, and must say that they almost work 'too' good. This level of protection (in Northern California's climate) is for someone who is standing directing traffic, walking, or operating a piece of equipment with no enclosed cab and not doing strenuous activities like shoveling...I was baking and sweating after about five minutes of cleaning out under a conveyor belt with a shovel...so I would recommend this product for someone whos activity level isn't so high. That said though, this is quality made and designed workwear!"

So far so good at -25 C, December 1, 2007
By SteamerMan from Fort McMurray, AB, Canada.

"I am impressed. I work up here in the oilpatch in Fort McMurray AB, Canada. I also work this jacket to death. I do a job called steaming (I spray big tonka dump trucks that haul the mined oilsand with a high pressure washer that heats water to just about boiling 90 C to 95 C). This is the dirtiest job up here. Not only are you always wet, but your also covered with dirty, slimey, sticky oilsand all the time; plus it's done outside and it's done all winter long. This jacket works good. I've used it as low as -25 C (-37 C with the windchill) At this temperature as soon as the water lands on me it freezes and in no time I'm a human moving block of ice. I've only just come to the conclusion that I'm probably going to have to start wearing more than just a sweater underneath (the cold was kind of starting to get noticeable, but I think that's just because of the human block of ice thing). The oil slime that's permanently stuck to it doesn't seem to interfere with it's waterproof ability either, nor does it make it any less warm. I'm using both the jacket and the bibs and long story short so far I'm warm and dry (truth be told I've only had them 2 weeks but in this job I've ruined lesser jackets and bibs in less than a day). The real test is still coming up, I'll give them a few more weeks to see how they survive the oil slime and also see how they do when things get really cold up here(soon be -40 C ). The only reason they get 4 stars is that the Zipper pull tabs on the Jacket and Bibs both came off already (no biggie as I just reattahed them with small key ring rings) and the zipper on the bibs could stand to go down a little further. Stay tuned and I'll let you know how they did at -40 C. (P.S. at the price they're a steal of a deal)."

    Cabela's Roughneck Dry-Plus® Thinsulate™ Parka - R, November 5, 2007
    By MiCroMagnon from Berkeley, Missouri

"Great parka except that the hood is about 5 times too large! I wear it under a motorcycle helmet and I have to roll it back twice to keep it from coming down over my eyes, but then the extra bulk from folding the hood back also makes it near impossible to pull my helmet down far enough to buckle the chin strap. I have to confess that I ordered this parka a size too large to accommodate layering underneath, but still, the hood seems overly large to me. More suitable to an 800 lb gorilla than to a human of any size that I've ever seen. Except for the giant hood I'm quite please with this Parka and would otherwise have given it 5 stars."
