"I would not settle for anything less than this series tripod. It is made well and has all the bells and whistles, you can save some money and get an inferior tripod or you can spend just a little more and have a very good tripod that has everything you need that will last for a lifetime."

"The tripod is versatile and lightweight. Beware, however, that the Vanguard/Alta quick release plate is not the same size as that used by Manfrotto tripods so size of quick release shoes are different as well."
