does what it is suppose to,November 18, 2009
By huntinwiththeboysfrom Huntsville, AR
"This one does not have the loose blade problem that you read about from other review. I think they fixed that problem. It seems sturdy enough and has cut though several deer already."

replacement,April 15, 2009
By Anonymous
"the Butcher Saw blades DO NOT fit the old saws (2005 and older). The newer saws are designed with shorter blades. I had to call the original blade manufacture for replacements."

Cabela's Stainless Steel Butcher Saws,December 27, 2008
By SGINIOWAfrom IA
"They work very good. We used the butcher hand saw on about 10-15 deer. Your saw is very sturdy and can with stand heavy use. About the 11 deer we had to change the blade. I really highly recommend this product."

Find another meat saw,December 23, 2008
By Anonymousfrom Glendale, Arizona
"This is not a good meat saw. The blade has too much play and therefore quickly bends and becomes non-functional. And, even when it was functional it was very difficult to make a straight cut."

Good to the bone,December 15, 2008
By AKSKfrom Lawrence Kansas
"I have already used it on four deer and it is not showing any signs of wear and tear. Just clean it up after you use it and it is ready for another round of butchering. I would recommend it."

Needs better blades,December 1, 2008
By Magnumwideglidefrom Rockford, MI
"I bought one of these because my dry wallers, I believe, walked off with a nice one I had. My dad was a butcher in his younger days, and passed those skills on to me. I have never had any butcher process a deer, antelope, mule deer, or caribou for me.
With that being said, this is a poor unit. I will try to have a custom length blade made for it, as the blades are sloppy when in the saw with the release lever snapped in place. It might be hard as I have numerous other 25" blades, but they are long for this saw as well. So I would bet the manufacturer did not make the saw long enough for standard 25" blades. It hops on you, and once in bone you have to almost cant the saw at a 45 degree angle in order to keep it going straight. That tells me it's a blade issue. Would more tension help? I guess I'll find out. Going through a leg bone etc, not a big deal. But cutting through ribs, or the chest cavity for chuck steaks or roast, and rib roasts it's a nightmare. If you've never used a meat saw before, you might just think it's your fault for not knowing how to saw. With this one, it most likely will be the saw. Sportsman's guide had one to that was just as bad, and I sent it back. I have to find me an old good one of high quality again, and then keep some greedy fingers from taking it from me."

A VERY POOR MEAT SAW,November 3, 2008
By Don456from Deer hunting in South Carolina
"In my view this is a very poor meat saw. There is too much play in the blade when sawing. The blade should remain tight when cutting the bone and this saw doesn't."

Meat Saw,October 31, 2008
By 2572506from California
"The 2 problems with this saw is as follows
1. The blade wants to twist when cutting down the back bone.
2. The blade has the wrong teeth on it. It is way to course, it would be good for cutting wood, not bone."

Stainless steel butcher saw,September 22, 2008
By dickie2from Anderson, California
"I was very unhappy with the saw. We shot our Elk, and when I went to use the saw, after dressing the animal, it broke because the blade was put in backwords. So when I wanted to saw off a leg at the joint, it had the teeth going the wrong way and it tore the blade up and I was without any cutting tools in the woods, except for my knives. I believe it would have been of excellent use if not for that incident."

Professional 25" Meat Saw,May 1, 2008
By KevGfrom Apache Junction, Az.
"Overall, the meat saw is well built and sturdy enough to tackle the task at hand. It is slightly awkward at 2 1/2 Lbs to maneuver, due to the angle of the handle (and the 25" length), but that's to be expected with a large meat saw. The only thing I would change is the locking mechanism for the blade. It is plastic, and it seems that it may not last over extended use, but it hasn't failed yet."

25" Stainless Steel Butcher Saw,February 27, 2008
By UlyssesSCatfrom Lakewood, WA
"I would highly recommend this product for yourself or to give as a gift. I have now bought 2 of these saws. The first one I bought for myself and used on a hunting trip with my brother. We were both so impressed with the ease of use, sharpness of blade, ergonomic handle, and durability that I bought the 2nd one for him as a gift."

SST SAW,February 20, 2008
By MeatCutterSSTfrom Texas
"Tried to cut turkey, holding the drum stick is hard. It might have woked with very very fine teeth. More like 24 teeth per inch or so. Never have tried on large portions, it might work just fine. The roll pin used to hold the blade seems like they are not SST. They could rust. Otherwise, well built, sturdy. Hope they will offer a fine pitch SST saw some day."
