"Standard .457 cal lead balls. Tight fit on all my guns. Darn near impossible to load in my Remington with a 5 inch barrel (short loading lever). Other than that, no problems. They don't shoot any straighter than smaller balls (my fault)."

"I can't say for the pistol balls, but I have used Hornady's .50cal round balls for smoke tube in .490 diameter. Never used a patched round ball before, thought I'd try 'em for a laugh. I have to say, I was plesently suprised at the accuracy of them, from 50 out to 100 yards. In fact, they shot just as accurately as Hornady's XTP Saboted hollow points I usually use."

"I am using these in a .44 the oversized bullett seals the cylinder well to prevent chain fire. Thesse bulletts are very accurate with 30 grain load. I shot a turkey in the head @ 45yds. Good stuff!!!"

"I find the Hornady .451 lead balls a must for the 1858 Remington knock offs. The smaller diameter bore they come with necessitates their use. If you buy one of Pietta`s 1858s from Cabelas make sure you get them as they are very tight when new. We got the 5inch barrel sherrif`s model and the uniform, always right hornady balls always make things right!

"If I could buy these cheaper than I could cast my own I would purchase a lifetime supply. They are a good soft lead ball with no sprue cut to contend with. But I can run many,many more ball for the same price of a hundred than what is offered by Hornady. But if you don`t cast these are what need."
