Cabela's Pistol Wads,

"I purchased these wads for my .44 Revolver(purchased from Cabela's of course).
I had purchased others but these are the best. They fit the cylinder better than what I had used before and have plenty of lubrication. This all makes me feel better about eliminating the possibility of chain fires... Never yet had any ... don't want any.
I do find it works best for me to load the powder, load a wad and press the wad on top of the powder before loading and pressing the ball. It leaves less chance of gaps under the ball and potential disaster.
These pistol wads from Cabela's are the best I've found and they work great in my revolvers.
Get some... you'll see what I mean."

"Since I started using these wads, they really do seem to lubricate the barrel as you fire. Cleaning takes half the time after using them than when I don't use them. They also help reduce the chances of "flashover" in my pistol."

"I have looked in all the big sporting goods stores and numerous sporting catalogs and Cabela's is the only one I could find that sells this particular caliber wad. I have been using them in my 1861 model navy colt reproduction pistol for 2 years. I find them to be outstanding with little leading, no chain-fires and no messy grease to fool with. I find myself shooting more because I don't have all the greasy mess and cleanup is no more of a problem."

"These pistol wads are supposed to make your gun easier to clean. I don't know about that, but it does make for a cleaner gun on the range. I don't need to use my crisco to keep from getting a crossfire which keeps my gun cleaner. I would definately recommend this product, which reminds me, I need to order more."

"many black powder users debate the need for prelubed wads as did i initially.
however, as i adjusted my powder charge to lower levels for better grouping, these wads served two functions:
1) added protection from possible chainfiring accidents
2) perfect for taking up the air space within the chamber left by reduced gunpowder.
i still use bore butter over each lead round for maximum lubrication and decreased fouling, but these cabela's pistol wads have made that even easier. try it, you'll like it."

"I use these wads in my Old Army cap & ball pistols when I'm shooting in a Cowboy match. They keep the powder residue in the barrel to a minimum as I shoot through the stages. No need to swab the barrel, and they are priced right."

"Many of the wad products are quite dry and I add more lube to them for easier cleanup, but these wads have plenty of lube on them already and cleanup after shooting is easy - the fouling is nice and soft."
