Rifle Ammo,
September 19, 2009
By kellerw
from Dunedin,FL
|
"I have not had a chance to use this yet but the cartridges come in a nice cardbox. I suspect when they are placed in my rifle, the trigger pull will subsequently cause a boom to occur and that will be followed shortly by the bullet being propelled from the end of the muzzle- just like it is supposed to. All in all a fine job for a box of bullets."

By Smitty60a3

"I had no issues with this ammo in old GI magazines, but it has a long overall length that was a tight fit in my 30 round aftermarket magazines. Still, there were no feeding problems, misfires, or extraction problems. Accuracy from my 66 year old Inland 30 Carbine was good."

There's iron in the jackets of these bullets,
May 15, 2009
By RDavid
|
"My three star rating is meaningless because I haven't fired any of these bullets. These bullets are attracted by a magnet so I suppose the iron/steel in the jacket is considerable I'm afraid to put this ammo through my AR-15 since it doesn't have a chrome barrel and I'm leary of undue wear and tear. In all fairness I have had good luck with Sellier & Bellot .45 ACP ammo (which is not attracted by a magnet.)
Anyone out there have any insights on this? Perhaps I'm worrying to much over nothing!"

"This ammo fires and functions perfectly in my ruger mini-30. Also the powder burns very cleanly. The fired brass was so clean it was almost impossible to tell except for the punctered primer. This ammo is also reloadable boxer primed which is a real bonus."

My CZ 527 loves 'em!,
May 4, 2009
By CRMiller
from Greenwood, IN

"I ordered a few boxes of this hoping mostly to get some reloadable brass as it has been hard to locate recently. Imagine my very pleasant surprise to find that the soft points group about 1.5" at 100 yds. I have a pet handload that is a little bit better than that, but these would definately work for a short range deer load right out of the box. Maybe it's because the rifle is a European import, but it sure likes these S&B loads W-A-Y better than anything I've ever fed it from Remington or Winchester!"

Excellet Value,

"I recently bought the 147 grain .308 Win manufactured by Sellier and Bellot on the advice of a friend. I found them to be less expensive than other factory loads, and they preformed consistently. After using several rounds to sight in, I was very pleased and confident with groups I was shooting. After the noise was done, I was pleasantly surprised to find the charge used was very clean burning, and through in combustion. That made it much easier to clean my M1A for the next time. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Sellier and Bellot brand to family and friends."

Secret Sellier & Bellot,
March 31, 2009
By PastorPackin
from Kentucky
|
"Gentlemen (& Ladies),
This ammo looks great and was at a good price but my primary reason for purchase was what I had seen on a few reviews and I shall chime in likewise. Some reviews had mentioned 'steel core' ammo. Sellier and Bellot makes a green ballistic tipped steel core 'armor piercing' ammo. While this ammo is not ballistic tipped it will hold a magnet so it is steel cored. Steel cored ammo is cheaper than led to make so this may be the reasoning behind it but in any case, irregardless of the hardness of the steel in this ammo by simply being steel it will be harder than led and therefore while I can't say it is 'armor piercing' (though it may be) I can say that it will generally have a deeper penetration than led. The bullet is jacketed in brass or similar bi-metal so steel is not contacting your barrel. In short steel cored armor piercing is typically more expensive because it is specialized ammo and if this is indeed of sufficient hardness to be classified as armor piercing it would be banned at the liberal's first opportunity. Legal to own but not purchase in the future. I bought 500 .223 for my AR15 and 500 7.62 for my AK. The 4 stars are because I simply haven't made it out to shoot it. Hope this helps your decision."
