"OK so I'm not a gun guy. Maybe all this stuff is obvious to those with gun collections and a penchant for fiddling around with them when not blazing away at something. While there is not a lot to consider in figuring out an air gun, when you add a scope (loose in the box) and laser sight as part of the package as this one has, the manufacturer/retailer needs to do a bit more to clarify how the parts are to go together, be set up/calibrated and used. Given the limited effective range - perhaps 30-50', of a spring piston air gun, the need for a scope is probably questionable - especially if you don't take the time to buy paper targets, set up a bench support/sandbag setup and get the thing sited in. Specific problems concern the gun and scope setup directions that address a different scope than that supplied with the gun. There are no specific or clear directions on how to take the scope mounting hardware apart which you have to do to actually get the parts to mate with the grooved receiver on top of the breech. Much scratching of black finish off the soft aluminum parts resulted before coming to the realization that a set screw needed to be backed out to allow the scope to settle onto the barrel breech. Good luck."

"I was very dissappointed in this gun. The cost is not the problem it was the gun. After the first day the flashlight would not work at all so i took it off the gun. Second of all the scope it impossible to sight in and the crosshairs broke after about 200 shots. Dissapointing"

"rifle is capable of 1/2" groups at 20yds I make headshots on turtles at a little over 30 yds, regularly. scope crosshairs broke/snapped after about 500 shots light and laser both quit working after about 2 months, maybe less. I bought another gamo scope and it seems to be holding up. I would advise to buy just the rifle w/ a better scope and forget the cheap laser/light"

"This was my 3rd try. I returned the first two. On the 3rd when the accuracy was still very poor I removed the scope and installed some make shift open sights. At 13 yard the rifle shot a 3/4 inch group and at 20 yds a 1.375 inch group. I will have to buy a different scope for this rifle."

"I just got my gamo varmint hunter and I read all the reviews on this gun and people were saying that the light and the laser were very bright and I was thiking "yea right" but when i tried it in the night the light was bright at 15yds but it lights up more area at med-long ranges but its great for smallgame cuz it wont scare them off with the brightness. Also in the day time the laser can be seen about 50yds away. The laser is exreamly bright at all ranges my backyard is not the biggest but its around 80yds long and it was easy to see where the laser was so i took it up at my camp and i saw the laser across the lake (a little over 350yds away from my camp window) at night time. I put on the scope that came with the gun and i didnt care for it and the groping was not so good at 30yds so i put on a bushnell 3-9 x 30 and i had the groping at 30yds with crossman pointed lead pellets so close it looked like it was one hole and im not kidding. So i put up a target at 50yds and the groping was all within 1 1/2 inch. I tried the gamo pba pellets and im not happy to say that it was all over the target at 50yds. So i tried the crossman lead pellets pointed and thats how i got the 1 1/2 inch groping. I would reccoment this to anybody that wants good power and good shot placement. The only reason i put 4 out of 5 stars is because of the scope other than that it would b a 5!!!"

"This is a good rifle for plinking. I bought it to use to exterminate pigeons. The light and laser are not that acurate and take camera bateries, which are expensive. however that stuff was still fun to mess around with. The scope and gun work great. I like the synthetic stock, it takes abuse well. I would recomend this gun."

"i've had this gun since the summer and i haven't had any problems with it. it is extremly powerful and insainly accurate. i shot a pellet through 9 tin cans, top to bottom, with no problem. the scope is great if you know how to use it. the laser sight was a little off but the flashlight was really powerful. overall this gun was incredible!!!!!"
