"Never having owned a gut hook knife, I took a chance and ordered the Omni Hunter to give it a try. This knife is simply fantastic for zippering open a whitetail deer. Didn't have to worry a bit about puncturing the paunch. Both the blade and the gut hook were super sharp right out of the box. The only negative for me, and the reason I gave it 4 stars, was the fact that the tip of the blade was a little deeper than I like for opening up the back end of a deer. I guess it needs to be that way to have enough strength for the gut hook part of the blade. It might just be a matter of getting used to a different blade design. Overall I like this knife, it took less time to open the cavity, but a little extra time for the finer work where a little more of a point would have worked better. Buck makes a great product!"

"The guthook version of this knife is an amazing tool. I unzipped a whitetail doe from top of the ribcage to pelvis in seconds. The knife was also very sharp and functional for field dressing and made for a very quick job. However, when I hung the deer to skin and butcher, I found the guthook to get in the way somewhat and I switched to another knife. This knife is a compromise as most knives are, but I definitely will be carrying this one for the field dressing part of the job."

"I love this knife (Buck Omni) I hunt south Florida and this knife is excellent. It is not as heavy as the traditional Buck knife my husband uses. The thermoplastic handle fits like a glove and is very comfortable (non slip grip) and cleans off great. The gut hook works like a razor on south Florida hogs, and works great around the camp, on the boat and in my kitchen. The blade works great on quartering wild game as well as store brought chicken. The nylon sleath is light and washable. Great knife Every lady who enjoys hunting with her man will like the Omni on her side"
