"The dimensions of this knife are greater than I had anticipated. Blade length is stated in the specifications but blade depth is not. My main goal in purchasing this knife was to replace my main blade which is a 30 year old folding locking Sharade knife.
I have not used this knife yet but I purchased it based on what my perceive needs are. I will continue to carry another knife that converts to wood and bone saws but this Buck Omni will be my main field dressing knife. It is very sharp out of the package and should work wonderful for skinning and field prep."

"This knife is one of the sharpest out of the package i have ever purchased. Have not used it yet so cant say how well it holds an edge but i am definitely optimistic. "This knife has the best edge ever! Right out of the box it cut through what ever I put in front of it (although I thought that testing it on a brick was a bit too far). My friend paid 300 dollars for a seven inch surgical steel trench knife and sharpened it often but his dulled after its first use. I paid about 50 bucks for this knife and he has been jealous ever since. I have used this blade so much and it hasn't lost its edge. If I was in the middle of some God forsaken Jungle with Boars all around me the only thing more important than a spear would be a good bow and this knife. Buy the knife already. Cabela's Is where its at!"

"Knife will be a great skinner. The handle is medium in size which works great in larger hands for the flexibility you need while skinning. Knife was indeed sharp however was a little rounded over from over sharpening at the factory. 5 swipes on a crock stick fixed the problem. One down fall is the sheath strap and snap which is hard to snap and unsnap. It does not look as if the snap it will hold up well. Buck's knives, the ones made in America, have never let me down."

"Having been a Buck Knives collector for over 35 years and an avid Hunter, I put all knives (different brands) through the field test of endurance. I own both the camo and black handle versions of the Omni Hunter with guthook. It is my opinion that Buck's guthook design is far superior than others I have used, to include some "safer" tools currently being marketed for field dressing game. I have yet to have hair or the skin roll under to the cutting edge of the guthook, which has happened with most every other product used.
Hair shaving razor edge out of the box holds the edge far superior to many of its competitors. I have worn vinyl/latex gloves for years, thus no issues with a slick handle.
The knife has clean lines for with a uniquely aesthetic appeal, very well balanced, (as are the Alpha and Vanguard series) and jsut feels right. Well done again Buck and Cabelas AND made in the USA!!!!!!"

"Right out of the box, the first thing I did was see if I could shave hair off my arm. Like a champ. I don't recall seeing this anywhere when purchasing this but Buck knives come with a lifetime warranty on pretty much everything besides loosing it. Also IF the knife ever gets dull, you can send it into Buck and they will sharpen it for you and send it back within 3 weeks. Amazing product backing by Buck. With that kind of guarantee, how can you go wrong? AND its one of the cheaper knives out there. The grip is also amazing. I can't wait to gut an elk with this knife, my expectations have already been met."

"I have used Buck knives for the past 30 years. The blade on this knife is fantastic both for the gut hook and and the great skinning edge. However, I was disappointed in the handle. It had a decent profile to fit the hand, but is still slick when it has blood on it. It does not have a "sticky" grip to it."
