"I live in a rural location where there is a problem with weeds & small brush. They were so thick that you could not begin to cut them with the small riding lawn mower that I own.I purchased a Gerber Brush Thinner Machete & was able to quickly cut through this mess. I am impressed with the quality construction of this tool! I would recommend it to anyone who has atough job they need to complete!"

"This thing is solid and cutts tall grass or 2" branches with one swing. Can be used as a little camp axe or machette. works great for clearing trails and around the deer stand. worth the money"

"received the gerber brush thinner machete in very good time. am very happy with it. like other reviews said the handle was slick i solved this by wraping it with 1/8 in. string. it makes a very good grip."

"Great tool, I no longer carry a hatchet or bucksaw to clear small brush. Does some chores faster/safer than my Stihl chainsaw. Easily cuts through 1 1/2 to 2 in honeysuckly brush (a very aggressive nuisance).
As stated in other reviews, the handle is slick, doing this type of work you're probably wearing leather gloves AND the handle is drilled for a lanyard. A couple of minutes with some 550 cord or a leather strap and this thing is stuck to your wrist like glue."

"This is hands down the best tool I have used!! I am a field forester and my job requires me to travel around to many different places, I have to measure every tree in a 41 foot cricle sample area and the brush really gets in the way! I have used this extensivly!! more than a lifetimes use in florida, georgia, texas and most recently New Brunswick CA where it met its match!! This thing will eat through just about anythign, I have cut down trees 5", mind you they were really soft but I cannot say enough about this thing!

"I used this to little beast to tame 1/8 acre of little maple saplings and thorn bush/tree. I mean, this was a jungle. Took me 3 days of 4 hour shifts each day. Its awesome. The tool comes super sharp and kept a nice edge throughout the job. The hook portion of the blade dulled a bit so I'll probably order a knife sharpener to renew its full potential. I would totally get this over the typical machette. Shorter blade concerning you? Don't sweat it. Add to cart! :) Other people commented about the grip and I would agree. Tape it up, get some nice gloves, and tether the thing."

"Heavy sharp blade. Well balanced and feels good in your hand. Cut 1 inch brush with ease. Only complaint is that the blade doesn't go far into the handle. Never had issues with Gerber products in the past, so not too worried about it."

"This is a great machete! It is still sharp even after hours of chopping through Blackberries and vine maple. Even dead and dry wood is no match for the very sharp and stout blade.
Why then you may ask am I only giving a four star rating?
I think the handle, (even though quite comfortable) is way too short. It should be about twice as long so as to keep your hands and arms well clear of any thorns you may encounter."

"I purchased this machete and used it the first day. Clearing out heavy brush has never been so effortless. The blade is so much more sturdy than any machete I have ever used. No problem cutting through limbs up to two inches thick! The handle is hollow and eliminates the vibration, however does get a little slippery with sweat. Another user suggested placing "soft grip" as used on tennis rackets, and that will solve the grip problem. I do also recommend putting a wrist strap in the holes provided just in case it does slip out of your hand. It also comes with a great zippered case for transport.
Extremely great product for the money!!! I will order another and have suggested it to friends!"
