    Excellent Unit, June 26, 2008
    By larry418 from WI

"This is my 3rd gps. First one, the Garmin 12, then the Garmin 76S. The 76S is a nice unit but I could not get the lake maps from navionics for it. I wanted something with good detail for a Canadian fly-in, so now I have the Expedition C. I have found the base maps to not be as accurate as the Garmin, but the color screen is awsome and with a navionics lake maps chip it is a wonderful unit. It showed me small rock islands that were not even on the lake map the outfitter supplied me with and the lake I was at was not even one of the new high def contour lake maps. I do agree with one of the past reviews, the screen is a soft plastic, so try not drop it on its face. I am not sure if you need the audio capability - then you need to buy another accessory - a head phone adapter. There is no instruction on how to calibrate the compass in the manual, but is really simple just by following the menus. If you want great lake detail and a fairly easy unit to operate, the Expedition and a navionics chip will do it for you."

"I found this to be a very good product. The display is very clear and the functionality was great. I used it on a Colorado Elk Hunt and no trouble at all."

Good product with few problems, November 1, 2006
    By OutdoorsmanNick from MN

"The Expedition C is the second GPS I've bought, the first being a simple Garmin 12. Ill admit that the Expedition is better then the Garmin, but Ive discovered a few problems with it. For starters, the screen is made of a soft material, so it scratches very easily and I mean easy. Second, the buttons do not light up so at night it is hard to tell what button you are pushing. Finally, I go to save a waypoint and all I get are a few icons that actually make sense to have in a GPS. Granted its made for more than just the outdoorsman, but Lowrance should rethink there icon selection.

One helpful thing Ive found is moving helps in receiving the satellite signal. The electronic compass is also a nice added feature. The base map is not great, but when added with Lowrances LakeMaster ProMaps chip, the background map become exponentially better.

    Lowrance Expedition C GPS, October 23, 2006
    By Joe21 from Michigan

"This is my first handheld GPS and I am reasonably satisfied with it. The large, bright color screen is probably the most outstanding feature. Satellite lock is fast and so far it works well inside my vehicle, house, and under moist tree canopy cover. Functions and menus are easy to use. I can use this GPS to easily return to waypoints within 13-20 feet.

If you don't need or want the MP3 player or electronic compass buy the H20 C. It has all the same features as the Expedition C except these two.

The Owner's Manual is lacking documentation on the electronic compass and how to calibrate it. You'll need to go to Lowrance's website and view or download the manual for the HUNT C to find ANY info on the compass.

The biggest negative is the accuracy of the basemap and the maps you can install using LEI Mapcreate 6.3. The maps are out of date, many POI's are way off in location, and many streets on the Michigan map are shown 200-300 feet off from their true location.
