Know it's limits...,
September 27, 2009
By MnK

"It's a great target for the intended purpose. It is LIGHT, reasonably durable, and does what it is supposed to for lightweight bows (25-30# MAX).
That said... it also does exactly what the negative reviews say. If you hit the edge, you will have some seriously unhappy fletching.
If you don't occasionally lay it down flat and bang the stuffing back into "evenness", you will be able to shoot through it 6" from the edge (top).
If you leave it outside, it WILL look like everything else you leave outside in your climate area.
It IS hard to pull the arrows out if you don't do it properly... and sometimes even if you ARE doing it properly.
If your youngsters (and mine) don't get a clean release with a 15# bow, the arrows definitely will bounce off... I prefer to laugh with/at my kids rather than complain about the target, but that's us.
I do recommend the target... for it's recommended purpose."

My mistake?,
July 29, 2009
By texscot
|
"Bought this for myself and didn't notice it is a youth target. The practice points stick in the cloth and were very difficult for me to remove. Don't really see how that would be easier for young archers with less force behind the shots since it is the exterior cloth that is the problem. Would neither buy again nor recommend to others."

"I love this target for my 11 year old. I don't mind him shooting arrows as long as he shoots the target. He really enjoys trying to get the center. Wouldn't recommend leaving it out in the rain. Take inside after use."

Great for Kids,
March 23, 2009
By ConnellyGal

"The reviews for this target were mixed. Some people noted its average/below average quality, others said it was sufficient for kids. I decided to buy it for my 11 year old daughter who is just getting started. She has been thrilled with it. This was a good way to get started on archery. If she sticks with it, we will invest in a higher quality target."

I do not recommend this item,
February 14, 2009
By TCinCT

"The only reason I give a star at all is because of its size / price, it's a big target and its not expensive.
Drawbacks: Its a box covered with a plastic/poly (burlap type) bag.
Arrows with feild points are diffucult for little people (6-8 year olds) to remove. You have to almost pry the arrow out the last 3/8-1/4 inch. We have to swing the arrow back and forth , back and forth ... to get them to come out "nicely". Otherwise you have to (almost violently) yank the arrows out.
Arrows sometimes fly right thru or bounce off. I have no idea what its stuffed with... but it's very inconsistent.
I would not EVER buy this again ...."

Arrows will not go in far enough. The worst purchase I've ever made at Cabela's."

Great target for youth,
May 19, 2008
By Steve365
from Ohio
|
"I purchased this target for my two sons to shoot the 30' Buckeye bow that I also had previously purchased from Cabela's. The target is great for its intended use. It stops arrows shot with a lightweight bow, and the big target is a plus for keeping small egos intact. Don't buy this to practice with a compound bow -- the arrows will go right through it. I am a Boy Scout archery merit badge instructor, and this target fills the bill perfectly for most of my young archers earning their badge. For my more advanced students with their own compound bows, I use a block target."

Ok for a beginner's target,
February 9, 2008
By Dan99
from Darien, CT

"This is a good, low-cost target for a beginner shooting around a 20-30lb draw weight. Yes it is burlap over a cardboard box with stuffing but you get what you pay for and it does the job for my youngster. If she gets serious, we will pay for something better."

Works great!,

By slowshooter

"Looks like a target. Acts like a target.
For kids it's a great. Pretty big and nigh unmissable.
For adults it far too lightweight.
For chewy labradors it's a giant lure. If I tied one to the back of my car and dragged it around the neighborhood, eventually I'd have to fight my way through a chew frenzy mob of paws and wet noses just to open my trunk."

Not what we thought,
June 11, 2007
By MomofJeremy

"We were expecting something more than a cardboard box with some target-painted tarp stapled to it. The description was not very detailed. We never would have purchased this target if we had known what it really was. The sound of the arrows being pulled out reminds me of nails on a chalkboard."

Disappointing,
April 9, 2007
By JPT01
from Anderson, SC
|
"This target is the perfect size for training a young archer, but all it is, is a cardboard box in a burlap bag. I don't know what it is stuffed with, but it doesn't have enough of it. An arrow that hits in the top 6-8 inches of the target goes straight through, often at the detriment of the fletching. Don't buy this target."

Quality, Value and BIG too!,
December 26, 2006
By Daddysgirl
from Kings Bay, GA
|
"I don't have access to bales of hay where I live, but my 10 year old son was in need of a target. I didn't want to spend a lot or get anything fancy.
This was the PERFECT solution. It's big enough for a kid to hit it (if they miss this target, they probably shouldn't be shooting). It's heavy enough that it doesn't fall over when hit. It's inexpensive enough to buy one for a child. It's durable enough to last a very long time. What more could you ask for?"
