good stand,November 19, 2009
By Socks15from Ypsi Twsp, MI
"The upside to a climber is that you have more mobility. I recently joined a hunt club and have a young child so I may only be able to do a half day hunt. With this I can choose my location on any given day and hunt it. The seat is way more comfortable than the other hanging stands I've used. I accidently fell asleep for a couple of minutes once.
Down side is that the 25lbs and the center of gravity not being centered on your shoulders the stand gets heavy after walking more than 3/4 of a mile. But it is what it is. Oh it's kind of noisy in the morning when setting up."

Summit Goliath Tree Stand,August 3, 2009
By Trexfrom South Central Indiana
"I purchased this tree stand recently to replace my old steel Summit Viper stand. At 6'6" and close to 300# I decided to get a larger and much lighter climber. I like the relatively new concept of the climbing stirrups and the trigger mechanism holding the cables. I was not disappointed with the size of the Goliath but am somewhat skeptical of the durability of the material covering the seat and the bar/gunrest. It is not nearly as thick as on my old stand and had a small hole in the bottom of the seat when I unpacked it. I suspect that the stand shifted during shipment and wore a hole in it. My old stand is approx eight yrs old and, other than fading, the material is not torn or worn in any manner and I used it heavily during the time I owned it. Another issue that I had to address while assembling the stand was on the top of the bar that the seat bottom straps attach to. There were numerous sharp "bumps", that I suspect were sparks from the welding process, on the top of the bar and then painted over. I was concerned that the seat straps would be abraided by these so I knocked them off with a screw driver which also took off the paint. As the stand is aluminum I am not overly concerned with this issue but was disappointed that this was not caught during final inspection when the stand was manufactured. As I have not yet used this stand I am unable to comment further on its serviceability. I hope only that I like it as much as I did my old stand."

Room for improvement,February 15, 2009
By Trip99from Dorsey, IL
"I must say this is an extremely comfortable stand but there are a few things I don't like about it. The first and only major thing is that the front bar is not removable. I have been using an old API Bowhunter for about 7 years and its great for bowhunting (it is a good product, just a tad small for me). I have killed 11 deer from it and all but 2 I killed while sitting. The Goliath will require you to stand to shoot a bow, causing extra unecessary movement. It would be perfect for gun hunting, but in Illinois that's 13 days vice 3 months for bow season. Another thing I didn't care for was the fact that the teeth aren't very sharp, however that is a quick fix with an angle grinder. My API has very sharp teeth which for me was a noticeable difference in useability. The only other complaint I have is that it is a bit heavy and coud use more comfortable backpack straps. The size, ease of set up and use, and comfort are top notch. In my opinion, if they were to just make the front bar detachable for us bowhunters, or if this were to be used exclusively for gun hunting, this would be a 5 star product."

Summit Goliath,January 6, 2009
By Bigshot1from Metairie,LA
"Comfortable and simple. The only things I would recommend o help this stand be even better: when backpacking the stand into the woods, it hangs a little low so when walking my feet hit the stand. Then if you adjust the straps to raise the stand it is very uncomfortable on my shoulders. I would also suggest that the opening of the tubing in which the cables slide into be chamfered so that the sharp edges will not cut the shrinktubing on the cables."

Summit Goliath Stand,January 2, 2009
By goodhuntingfrom East Tennessee
"The Goliath is one of the most comfortable stands ever used. It is light weight, quiet to setup, and easy to use. I am a large frame hunter (6'4' and 240 lbs) and have ample room and comfort to stay on stand for hours. If you are looking for a solid, comfortable, and safe stand you won't find a better one regardless of price."

good for the big guys,December 30, 2008
By HillBoyfrom Mountain Home, Arkansas
"Bought this stand after coming off a 4 day guided hunt. I borrowed 2 other stands and felt I could have stuck with the hunt a lot better if I was comfortable. Weight was an issue using “my friends” stands (one 30 lbs the other 37lbs) and packing one in the national forest in the steep terrain got old the second day. This stand is 21 lbs. I’m 6’6” and weigh 220 well under the 350 lbs load limit when fully geared up. The stand went together easy and after watching the included disk. I set outside climbing trees. Climbing the 2nd tree was like “old Hat” and I sat up there awhile after reaching my 20 foot height. Turning around with multiple layers of clothing on and not binding was a big help compared to others I’ve used. Very, very comfortable and the shooting rail (when the seat is adjusted right) is right on the money for those longer shots. The OD paint does chip off it as stated in these reviews, but nothing a can of gray primer won’t fix . . . I was skeptic about the cable/ locking mechanism but it was easy to use and quiet. (Tried on two different sized trees) Plus comes with a 5 year warranty. Thanks Cabela’s , I’ll be ready next year."

By DWallacefrom Maine
"The goliath climber is rated at 350 lbs. and I weigh around 210 lbs. I wouldn't want a stand any bigger or any smaller. This stand is just the right size to be able to move a little without making a lot of noise. Its absolutly the easiest climber I have used thus far. I couldn't be any happier with this stand. I highly recomend it."

Excellent Product,November 18, 2008
By firemedic8from Bucks County,Pa
"I have tried other climber stands and Own a Ladder Stand but I have to say that the Summit Climber is very sturdy and easy to use. Overall Weight is not to bad but from previous post about the backpack straps digging in are correct. Easy and cheap fix was I just bought a pair of the seat belt pad covers for it and they do the job well no more digging in of the straps. Hiking the stand in is no problem, set up is easy and quick. Stand itself is very roomy and is easy to gain views from all points. I would highly recommend any of my Friends for this stand. Excellent Work summit."

Good stand,November 8, 2008
By kodiakkfrom SouthEast Texas
"Being new to climbing tree stands and not very acrobatic I was nervous climbing way up in a tree. My worries turned out to be for nothing. This stand was very easy to put together and has a good video with it as well. I have a extremely easy time climbing in this stand as well. As far as this being for big guys. I'm 6'5" 300LBS and have enough room. At my size nothing seems to ever be roomy, but I wasn't squished either."

Summit Goliath SS Treestand,October 5, 2008
By WackyWormfrom New York
"This was my first purchase of a climbing treestand since I was headed out West for a big buck bow hunt. I researched others and I trusted the Summit company to deliver a good product. First time up and just for practice I had the jitters, that was to be expected, but then I started to climb higher and higher with each tree. Easy to use and lightweight, quiet make this exceptional climber a 4 star choice. 5 Stars would have been given but the backpack strap broke and the strap always dug into the back of my neck making it VERY uncomfortable to carry for any distance. Summit could have done better on this issue and incorporated regular backpacking straps instead of the single V-style strap they have on it now. You'll see what I mean when you buy this model. I heard of another company that makes replacement straps with a backing board and a waist strap that would make any climber a dream to carry. I should have bought the Summit climber that had a larger base platform (2 inches), that model all things equal is a better choice for safety and sense of security."

Summit Golaith SS,September 13, 2008
By NewBerlinFossilfrom New Berlin NY
"At 45 years of age and starting to feel it. This is a great product but... you need to watch both of the dvd's that are included, and read the owners manual!! And like everything else PRACTICE with it. I bought it obviously to hunt out of, but also to put up my chain-on's with. "I don't like hanging 25 feet off the ground with a linesman belt anymore....it makes the job alot easier. You'll have to pay attention to your steep angle shots with your bow, your limb might hit climber bar.. And you'll have to get some adhesive mole skin to quiet it down. Some of the metal buckles clink and clank but cover 'em, the shoulder straps could use some padding and you know that it is all of the 21 lbs. hiking with it. So use it and you'll get a standard operating procedure down, that fits you best. It is super comfortable, and I'm glad I opted for the goliath instead of the viper(smaller). Get in shape and Happy hunting!!"

Great Treestand,August 24, 2008
By jpmagfrom NJ
"I was shopping for a climbing stand for bow and shotgun that was going to provide good safety and being comfortable too. I am afraid of heights and the last climber I borrowed was a death trap. So I went and got a 2man stand with the front bar on it to make me feel more secure. Definitly made the difference in being high up and secure. So I said to myself what about a climber that is close to my fixed stand as far as security. Thats when I came across the Summit Goliath. I read the reviews and found that some reviews had the same concerns that I had so I gave it a try. So I checked out this stand and it had a better seat and a front bar for added security. I tried it out and bought one. I went home and tested it. WOW! What a great stand. Easy to use, quiet, comfortable, fully adjustable and definitly secure. I had no fear of being up there. It was a pleasure to use. I am 6 foot 230lbs and had plenty of room. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a top notch stand and even more so if your afraid of heights. It will take the fear of being up there by providing the stability and security. Hope this review is helpful. Good Hunting."
