Hunt knowing your arrow is safely secured until you release it. The secret to this innovative rest is in
the unique containment arm that cradles your arrow. For added security, the launcher cocks in the
upright position before you draw and remains there until you release the arrow. The cord "clips" to your
bow cable without the need for serving, so you get all the advantages of a fall-away rest as well as
hassle-free connection. The rest can be cocked before the shot or you can let the cord lift it from the
down position when you draw. Calibrated vertical and horizontal adjustments set windage in two
places, so there is plenty of room to accommodate thick or thin risers. Internal dampeners eliminate
metal-to-metal contact for totally silent operation. Camo finish keeps you totally concealed.

Works good, adjustment hard on older bows,August 17, 2009
By malfakirfrom Oak Hill, Virginia
"Good rest. I installed two of them at the same time. One on my sons new Diamond Razor edge and the second on my 12 year old Golden Eagle. I noticed the installation was a lot trickier on the Golden Eagle because apparently this sight was designed for newer dimension bows. I ran into clearance issues, vertical adjustment issues, and riser impact issues which shook the screws loose out of the plastic fork. The football groove was too thin for my older string so i had to reshape it in order for my string to fit inside it.
However, i eventually got it installed and I took it out to the range. I shot it a whole bunch of times and made adjustments. My grouping improved for sure. I now do consistently 2" at 20 yards. One thing I noticed is rub marks on the platic fork which indicates contact with the vanes. I spent a long time playing with nock location and rest hight trying to eliminate those skid marks to no avail. I gave up on it for now since it did not seem to bother my groupings.
The rest cycled perfectly without any problems. It does make a slight click when it sets and the impact with the riser is loud . Use a thin piece of rubber mat or something to dampen for I did not like the rubber piece that came with it.
Bottom line: Think twice before getting this for an older bow. I definitely had much less room to adjust than my sons bow. For a new bow, I highly recommend it."

RipCord Fall-Away Rest,June 17, 2009
By ttank0789from Wellington, OH
"My friend got one of these rests about a month ago and I decided to get one too after I saw how well his groups improved. It was very easy to put on my bow. It only took about 5 minutes or so to put it on and get the windage and elevation adjusted. I went out and shot a 4 arrow group at 20 yards afterward and all of my arrows were touching or close to it. A few slight adjustments later and I was hitting spot on every time. I highly recommend this rest because it will improve your groupings and you will gain a few more fps if you were previously using a whisker biscuit like I was."

Ripcord faster than QAD,April 19, 2009
By shortmagnumfrom Dannebrog, NE
"I just replaced my QAD rest with the Ripcord, because the QAD is not fast enough to drop in order to avoid fetching contact. The ripcord seems plenty fast, but I have not yet tested it with FOBs. If issues arise with FOBs, I will post another comment. The ripcord mounted easily and I was able to paper tune it quickly. My groups tightened immediately, even before I tuned it. I like my launcher as close to the center line of the riser as possible so that any torque has minimal impact. My one complaint about the ripcord is that on my bow, one cannot attach the containment arm when the rest is mounted in a full forward position."

The best rest on the market,April 6, 2009
By Idahohunter15
"I could not be happerier with this rest. It has greatly improved my accuracy. I shoot a Parker XP Trailblazer that came set up with a WB. After changing to the RipCord Rest my archery experience completely changed. It is important that a person be sure they get the 09 rest. This rest is greatly different than the one shown here. It has an up and down adjustment not shown and is easier to install than the older model.
I did have a small problem. As I was tuning my bow I got the elevation adjustment on a bind and broke the rest off where it mounts to the bow. This was complete human error. It took quite a bit of tork before it broke.
RipCord has a 100% free replacement policy. My rest was replaced 3 days after I called their customer service. They even paid the postage to send my broken rest back. Thank you RipCord.
There are some negative reviews about this rest, but trust me the 09 model is the best there is. You can't go wrong with RipCord."

Good at first, but...,March 27, 2009
By Enkrissfrom nothern nj
"I switched to this rest after getting fed up with refletching my arrows using the WB. This rest worked awesome for the first season of hunting. I had the rest on a 2007 bowtech allegiance set at close to 70lbs and a 30.5 inch draw. While shooting the bow during the off season, the spring that makes the rest drop got weaker and the rest would not drop fast enough and the clearance of the fletching was giving me issues. So I decided to take the rest apart and put an extra turn in the spring. This seemed to work pretty good for a very short time until the entire rest broke in half!!!(dont play with the spring...) The rest never made it to the second season....
A few things of note to consider: 1) make sure to put felt over the part of the rest that contacts the arrow. this cost me a nice buck. Squeaks bad when drawing with carbon arrows 2) the rest is lound when it slaps the shelf of the riser put lots of silencing stuff there too 3) get extra parts. the plastic part that the arrow slides on is prone to breakage
Overall, if your bow is not real fast its not a bad rest, otherwise stay away...."

Improper Set Ups for Ripcord Arrow Rest,February 14, 2009
By captkirk63from Washington
"We should not always blame the equipment for our failures, sometimes we are the problem! Thank God, Cabela's customer service is so darn understanding with some of us.
I own two Ripcord arrow rests (since 2004) and a QAD Ultra Pro HD arrow rest (since January 2008). They ALL work great, IF ... you set them up properly. I have read enough of the Ripcord basher comments to say that most of them did not set them up correctly, but ... the same thing can happen with a QAD. The people with broken off launchers clearly did not have the right cord length attached to the downward buss cable of the bow for it to fall away properly. Subsequently, they shot right throught the launcher while it was still in up position. I have seen several other people do this first hand. So let your local bow shop help you set it up properly the first time (this includes all you engineers). For the people with parts falling off ... like any arrow rest ... you have to have all your screws properly tightened down (tight, but not too tight). Blue Loctite can help, but clear fingernail polish works well too. The Ripcord is about as noisy as the QAD when it falls away and strikes the bow shlef. They both require some adhesive camo fleece or thin rubber to be placed where the rest will strike the bow's shelf. The QAD does have some internal dampeners to help quiet it down, but you can still hear it. If your bow is fast enough (as most of today's bows are), it will be to late for even a nervous whitetail deer to react too.
A TIP for ANYONE, for ANY portion of their bow set up, is to get a Krylon Paint Pen and make tiny reference hash marks on the screws inline with hash marks on the corresponding part faces. This way you'll know if something has come loose, and you'll always know where tight enough is for that screw.
I have only experienced TWO PROBLEMS a Ripcord arrow rest. First, I have had rust on the internal spring which made the arrow rest visually fall away way too slow. But, this was my fault. I live in the Northwest, and my bow saw plenty of pounding rain in the early season. I had to remove the side cap to remove the rust from the internal spring. I used a sparing amount of WD40 on a Q-tip, and the problem was solved right there in the field. I should have tested the rest's fall away before I headed out that day, as it could have been costly. Second, I did have some minor cord wear after 2 hunting seasons. I decided to use some BCY cord that looked to be very close in diameter, BUT AH ... it was not. Hence, the rest would not fall away correctly. I spoke to the folks at Ripcord in Dillon, MT about it, and they asked me if I had replaced the cord. UH ... yep. It turns out the rest requires a specific cord diameter (which can be purchased at archery shops) due to its precision machined hole. Well, I sent it back to them, and they replaced it for FREE with an extra supply of cord (which I have not since had to use) and they sent me a real nice baseball cap with their logo for FREE within one week before I had to head out for an Idaho elk hunt.
HOWEVER, its true that the Ripcord will fall away after you let down your bow string from the full draw position. But, you can just flip it right back up with your finger for full arrow capture again. Its true that this will not happen with a QAD, BUT ... its just a plain and simple FACT that the QAD does not fall away as fast a Ripcord. This is something to seriously consider IF you are ever thinking of switching away from plastic vanes to FOB's on your arrows. FOB's are made of lightweight rigid plastic, and look like mini induction fans that slip onto your arrow shafts. But, they are not susceptible to wind drift.
Well, its Valentines Day and I have some preparations to make. I could go on in more detail as to how to set these arrow rests up, BUT I would recommend that you let your local archery shop people show you how to set them up. They understand about redeeming gift certificates and such from Cabela's, and you can always pay them for their time or buy something else from them to make yourself feel more comfortable about getting help with something that you did not purchase from them directly."

Install on a Bear Whitetail II,December 30, 2008
By BowMaster25from Georgia
"It was a little tricky to install the ripcord rest on my 1980's vintage Bear Whitetail II because the string was just barely long enough but I finally installed it and it works awesomely. The rest itself works great and is a high quality item, well worth the money."

Keep an eye on the cord where you cant see it!,December 13, 2008

"In under 2 months the cord freyed off inside the rest where it runs through a catch to activate the fall away motion. Not what U need on a hunt 1100 miles from home. Accuracy was good and paper tune was good but if it dont hold up in the battle field of hard hunting it's not for me."

Research before buying Beware!!!,October 27, 2008
By burghfanonefrom PA
"I bought this reat a year ago after reading all the reviews. I like the drop away style and the ease of mounting. Last year after I got all tuned in and ready to go, I went hunting like everyone else! After my second evening hunt, I lowered my bow and climbed out of my stand. When I got to the bottom of the tree I realized something was wrong. Half the rest was hanging only by the cable cord. It took me many times of tightening and a little loctite for it to finally stay. Just this morning I took a shot at a nice deer and heard a funny noise. For some reason I had hit a tree almost 4 inches high that was behind the deer. I couldn't figure out why I had hit so high when I aimed a little low since the shot was under 20 yards. Amazingly the deer stuck around so I grabbed another arrow and went to nock it. At that time I realized what my problem was...the launcher that holds the arrow on had literally broken off where it connects to the mechanism. Needless to say my hunting was over. All I could do was take out my camera phone and take a video of the deer as it walked off. I pride myself in keeping my hunting equipment tuned and in good working condition. I believe we owe it to the animal to make a quick clean kill. Now I understand why they make "replacement" launchers for this rest. I have only had the rest for a year and have had more problems than I ever wanted. I will buy a replacement launcher to get through the season but next year will be a QAD or equivalent rest that has more quality. Right now I do not want to spend precious hunting time sighting in my bow all over once again. With the replacement laucnher I should be able to get by with minimal to no tuning. Hopefully a few practice shots will show that it is still right on."

Poor clearance noisy,September 1, 2008
By dhunter2145from WV
"I have a ripcord rest and am very disappointed with it. It is very loud and requires much attention to even quite it a little. Clearace is a big problem. I was using 2 in vanes and my shots were all over the place ,I tried nock up, nock down and nock to the side no luck. I went to 4 in vanes nock down and still poor clearance and poor shooting pattern even with target tips. I went back to my old rest which cost half as much and I have a tight group even with broad heads."
