"the rod is pretty good and the reel iskinda noisy but the 6.3 gear ratio makes up for that. you cant go wrong with this combo, especially for the price"

"For an inexpensive rod/reel combo, this is an excellent choice. The rod is well built, and has a sensitive feel. The Shakespeare reel is more than I expected. It is very smooth, both in retrieve and casting, and I have had no problems with backlash when casting the reel. I purchased this combo for trolling for walleye, but it works so well, I also use if for casting. I am going to purchase a second combo to have as a spare."

"The Shakespeare Agility Casting Combo was a fair deal. I bought the 7ft Heavy Action Rod and the rod is great. The reel on the other hand was not so good, it tends to grind but, for the price i paid for it im not going to complain that much. All in all it was a good deal."

First Baitcasting Reel,

"I bought this baitcasting rod and reel combo and am definitely happy with my purchase. I have never owned a baitcasting reel before, so it has taken me some time to get used to that reel set up, and I have had more than my share of tangled lines getting used to the reel.
The rod is good quality, fast tip, really nice action. If you haven't used a baitcasting reel before, just give it some time, it will grow on you, but be prepared to get frustrated for a while. For the price, there isnt a better baitcasting combo out there."

"TAKES A LITTLE TIME TO GET REEL ADJUSTED TO PREVENT BACKLASH BUT ONCE THAT PROBLEM IS SOLVED IT WORKS VERY WELL. I SPOOLED MINE WITH 15LB P LINE AND HAVE CAUGHT SMALLIES TO 4 LB AND A 7 LB 10 OZ LARGE MOUTH. I BOUGHT THE MEDIUM ROD AND IT HAS WORKED WELL."

Great Price! Poor Quality!,

"I had broken my previous pole and needed a new one! Saddly I didn't have enough money to buy a 'top of the line' pole... So i had to go with something cheap and in my price range! I thought this would be a good pole but it didnt prove to be! I took it out on the lake and laced it up with the correct size line for it but I got tangled every few minutes! I eventually gave up and went home without a single fish! I would not recomend this to anyone! But most of the other products I have bought from Cableas has proved succesful!"

"For the money I have not seen a better combo!! I have only one small complaint, and that is the drag is a bit pinched when ratcheting down, it could have been engineered better, but again for the price, it is 100% perfect. Had it on the water and within 20 min. had a nice 5lb LM bass."

"The rod was broken right out of the box on the first one I received. Kudos to Cabelas for replacing it very quickly. This is the first baitcaster I have ever even held. There is a learning curve on the backlash but I was expecting that. Overall I am very pleased with this product. Have some patience if it is your first one!"

"The rod I don't have a problem with. Its the reel that is a headache it keeps backlashing so whenever I cast I have to untangle the line from my reel. its a nice reel just that the line gets all messed up everytime. This reel is meant for the Pro angler not the average Joes."

"I bought this combo because of the price and the fact it was a baitcast .the first two times I tried to use I spent two hours untangling the line . My dad suggested I tighted the antibacklash , and it worked . I was really happy with it once I figured it out . caught a 24 inch northern . I asked the staff about it and they helped me alot . thanks"

"This is my first baitcaster. I got the hang of it pretty quick and used it a few times before winter. The rod feels nice and lookes good. The reel is smooth and works good especially for the price. The ony thing I noticed was that the drag feels a little sticky when you slowly pull line out. Nobody else has said anything about it so it might just be mine."
