"The quality of this combo is excellent for the price. A set of slip rings to hold the reel seat would have been a nice addition even if it cost a little more. I initially used electrical tape and then a black rod wrap and I was ready to fish.."

"Yes; The reel is fantastic, even in very cold temps. I have the 28" MH rod, which is great for the rainbows and lake trout we are catching, 2 to 3lbs. I have no fear that this rod will handle much larger fish. The reel is very smooth, the drag doesn't catch and jerk when the big one is stripping line, and when you get the chance to reel him back in it's almost too smooth to believe.
No; Cabelas did make things right as best they could, but, the guides on the pole were installed incorrectly, they shipped 3 different rods before anyone realized that the entire stock was bad. I was impressed with the customer service and all thier efforts to make it right. When they get the stock problem taken care of, I would recommend this combo in a heartbeat! Without the problems, this combo would rate a 5 easily."

"I bought this rod on an in-fisherman recomendation to use it as a deadstick for 'eyes. So far I am very happy with my purchase. It's been great for perch but has enough backbone for 'eyes and hard fighting splake. I've yet to catch anything over 3lbs on it...yet."
