Nikon Retractable Rangefinder Tether,
November 20, 2009
By Stormforce
from New South Wales, Australia
|
"I'm actually using the "Nikon Retractable Rangefinder Tether " as a retractable tether for an arrow puller, while competing in 3D archery comps, and it performs this function quite well, I no longer have to worry about unclipping my heavy rubber arrow puller from my belt loop, just pull, use and let go, easy as pie..."

"For bow hunting when you really want to be as quite as possible. the winding noise is a little to much. Great idea but not for the bow hunter."

nikon retractable tether,
October 19, 2009
By chavas
from Oregon
|
"the tether is handy so that you don't happen to leave your range finder and then walk off or have it fall and not realize it"s missing. Trying to find something that small and if camo version can be difficult. The drawbacks are that it does get caught up in brush, sage etc. so you need to keep it in a pocket when moving around. It is quiet to operate and very helpful when in one position to always know how to locate without having to think about it."

Nikon retractable rangefinder tether,
October 17, 2009
By markbuck1
from Mundelein,IL
|
"Only problem was I had to improvise using string to secure tether to rangefinder. The tether has a strong enough spring to hold rangefinder secure to belt loop yet allows easy cable release to raise finder to viewing position. Could be useful in other outdoor activities such as fly fishing for holding a fishing net."

Nice addition,

"This is a great addition to your rangefinder. The last thing you want to do is have your rangefinder in the way or you struggling trying to put it away. Easy to get to at your side and won't accidently fall. Very happy with this."

"some people said its loud, well it is only if u pull it out the full 2ft. but I stitched a key ring on my right shoulder of my hunting jackets. my rangefinders hang off my sholder out of the way of my bow string. I only need to pull it out 5 or 6 inches so its really quiet....."

Would not buy,
August 15, 2009
By kpcinde

"I am suprised Nikon would make such a poor quality product, retractable cord is very noisy and clicks. A liabilty for a bowhunter, will spook more game and isnt worth the advantage of being able to clip a rangefinder to your hip. Will return item to Cabelas. Basically it's a piece of junk."

To noisy,
August 12, 2009
By PittsburghArcher
from Pittsburgh, Pa
|
"It is way to noisy for Pa whitetails during bow season. It's too expensive and the loud click it makes on the retract is bad even if you go slow. I stopped using it for archery and modified it to hang on my belt as a key FOB retractor while I am at work. That's about all it's good for in my opinion."

Not Good For Bowhunting,
March 28, 2009
By jsrIV
from Western, New York
|
"I love the concept, but it makes a distinct noise when retracting the cord. I'm afraid this might spook a deer if I were to use it when the deer were any less than 50 yards away. The whole reason I purchased the product was to easily access my rangefinders when game was close... I guess we'll find out this October."

"Good product. Had it out in the cold/rain/snow and it has held up so far. I was concerned that this tether was no heavy duty enough to handle the weight of the rangefinder, but it has held up fine."

By chuckfama

"If you plan on deer hunting with this particular tether you may want to consider not using it when the deer is present. They are loud enough so a deer will hear them. This product will be used during turkey season, which should be fine for that."

Nikon Retractable Rangefinder Tether,
February 3, 2009
By TriD
from Raleigh, North Carolina
|
"Nikon has a very good idea with this device; but they failed to think through the use of it. The primary users will be Whitetail deer hunters in the east. It is far too noisy to use for bowhunting, where rangefinder use is almost 100%. Function is fine, just way too noisy."
