Use with leaking bubble filter,August 31, 2009
By WJ43from Northern California
"I wasn't at all sure that this product would work where I wanted to use it, but I feel it was 95% successful. There was a significant leak between the upper end of my 'bubble filter' and the hose leading back to the pond where we have goldfish. Over a period of about 36 hours I had lost about 250 gals of water. After reading about the hippo patch I thought for the price of the 'tape', It was worth trying it, rather than taking the equipment apart and taking it to a plastic 'welder'. This had been recommended by someone. I was careful in placing the patch to lay it down in overlapping layers and then cutting a small 3/4 inch piece to wrap around the top of the hose connection. When I turned the system back on there was a very small leak that seeped out for about an hour, but this seemed to 'tighten up' after a while. Thus for less than $25 I was able to do a fix-it, which otherwise would have cost me much trouble and considerably more money. I think this is good product. I did feel the directions were a bit confusing as they were worded such that one could think one should take the 'backing' off both sides. I recommend that it be revised to make sure there is no possibility that a customer will try to take off the 'fabric' side."

Neat product but didn't repair rubber boots,December 23, 2008
By BowAcefrom Perry Hall, MD
"It's a neat product and I imagine it has its uses. However, don't buy this if you're planning on trying to repair rubber boots. It won't stick to the rubber boots and doesn't work at all."

cabela's 1200 thinsulate high boots,October 29, 2008
By bob106from Levittown, Pa.
"I bought the kit to patch my boot. I got a hole in the left boot while walking through the woods hunting. The hole was made by a branch on the ground and was about the size of a quarter. I patch the boot according to the diections and it didn't hold. I called cabela's customer service to see if there was something else I could do beings that the boots were only used for one hunting season. They said I would have to send the boots back for evaluation but in the meantime I have no boots if I decide to send them back. I thought the boots were made for the rugged terrain. So beside being disapointed in the boots the patch kit didn't do what they say."

Ooie Gooie HIPPO PATCH,August 6, 2008
By northbobrev
"Heard about Hippo Patch from a friend after a drain leak nightmare. I installed new shower pan and drain. Drain was in the ceiling and tough position to get to. Made a caulk mess and still leaked. Because the patch was flexible and sticky I was able to get at and wrap the drain and no more leaks. Also repaired a cracked built in boat cooler. It did the job. I also used patch to repair a seam crack on my cpap water humidifier. It fixed the leak. One thing I learned because of the sticky adhesive and never hardens characteristics is that the edges can have an ooie gooie tendency and can get on you. I painted the patches on boat cooler and wrapped the cpap with tape and it sealed the ooie gooie. I keep a small pack in my boat, truck and backpack just in case for emergencies. I give the product a thumbs up!"

Fact or Fiction?,July 21, 2008

"I purchased the Hippo Patch after reading all the incredible reviews it had received, only to discover that the adhesive continually stays sticky and oozing. Not sure how this patch could really patch anything. Waste of my money, and a lesson well learned for me!"

"In the past I've used many different types of aluminum patch. I was unable to patch the cracks in my boat. I thought I would try the hippo patch and to my surprise, it was easy to install and thus far it is holding up."

Hippo Patch,December 16, 2007
By snowmobeetlefrom Stilwell, KS
"Used on my swimming pool PVC Pump Intake Line where I had an air leak. I would continually lose prime to the pump. I wrapped Hippo Patch around the leaking joint. I no longer have air leaking in through the joint into the pump. What I thought was a temporary fix is now permanent."

"Very easy to use on nylon waders and it seems to be holding up really good. Coming loose around the edges just a little but not a problem. I used my waders 1/2 hr. after patching and they haven't leaked."

hippo patch,February 18, 2007
By 4starsonlyfrom Upton, MA
"the hippo patch did not work as touted. used it on 1 1/2 yr old insulated rubber boots with a puncture on top of the boot near the toe. applied the patch at room temp., let cure for two days. went for a walk this afternoon for about an hour, temp was lower 30s, patch lifted off, showed no signs of bonding to the rubber of the boot."
