Great Cot For Big Guys,November 18, 2009
By Dillerfrom Dexter, MI
"Being well over six foot tall and 320 lbs, I was looking for a cot that could be used for a back up bed at our cabin in northern Michigan that even a guy my size could sleep on comfortably. This is the cot! One of my sons who is also over 6 foot and over 200 lbs slept on this cot for three nights in a row and was very comfortable. The cot is long and wide making it very useable for big guys."

A new lifetime purchaser.,November 3, 2009
By Lawdog18from retired emergency services specialist
"I purchased (4) cots from Cabelas recently using online ordering. I was slightly skeptical about ordering merchandise I had not seen or examined first. After receiving the products all I can say is "WOW"! My order arrived quickly, was correct and made better than I could have imagined. If this is an example of how all the products offered are built I will be a lifetime customer. I will DEFINITLY pass the word about this fine company and it's products. Good job to all!"

Comfortable but a little wobbly,September 30, 2009
By SPOTNSTALKfrom Yakima, Washington
"I slept much much better on this cot than on the ground. It easily holds my weight and is plenty large enough for a good night's sleep. It seemed a little wobbly but it may have been sitting on ground that was a little bit uneven so it is hard to tell if that was the cause. Overall a good product and oh so much better than sleeping on the ground."

Best Camping Nights I've Experienced,September 23, 2009
By Bombguy50from Bedford, texas
"The wife and I have been tent camping for several years and we have tried almost every sleeping arrangement out there. We started with a simple pad, went to an air bed, and finally tried this cot. WOW! What a difference. This is the most comfortable cot I have ever been on (she says it was more comfortable than our home bed) The pad was horribly uncomfortable, the air bed lost air and had to be refilled every night and when you got up in the middle of the night the other person felt every move. The air bed took up the entire tent floor. This cot was off the ground, remained ridgid throughout the entire three day camp, gave us lots of room in the tent and provided a very restfull, pain-free sleep each night. It provided a nice bed for sleep and a great bench for dressing in the morning. Granted It's a little tough to put together but I found that if you leave it up for about a week before you go, and spray a little silicone on the ends at the camp site it goes together nicely. I would recommend this to any camper who seeks a comfortable night in a tent"

Hard to assemble,September 19, 2009
By idahoelkhunter12225from Idaho
"Overall, the cot is very good. Well constructed, sleeps well and feels like it will last a long time.
Biggest complaint is the assembly. The 600-denier nylon is too tight making it very difficult to get the end pieces on. I usually use a 3-foot crowbar for assembly. I’ve had these for 5 elk seasons now and still fight getting them assembled."

weak frame,September 7, 2009
By D2DAPfrom Santa Ana, New Mexico
"I already own a slumber jack cot and would've purchased another but were out of stock everywhere I looked. So I bought this "Alaskan" cot. Out of the box it had a weak appearance compared to the slumber jack. I am fully aware that first time setting it up can be a little difficult until the fabric stretches out a little but as I'm prying the second cross bar over, the end legs start to fold under the cot. the bar ends attached, I can clearly see that the legs would collapse with some weight applied to it. so back into the box it went. either do not buy this brand or set it up first in your living room, sleep on it to make sure this does not happen to you. Sorry Cabelas. it's not too often you let me down."

Excellent performance,August 31, 2009
By RicktheCamperfrom Los Angeles, CA
"I've used this cot out while camping in the Wyoming mountains and it's great. Very stable, secure and comfortable. I slept well on it and couldn't ask for more. It may be a bit large for some tents so I'd recommend the prospective buyer to measure space before buying. However, for performance and price, you can't beat it."

Big Alaskan Cot,August 18, 2009
By DennDfrom California
"Well the cot arrived and I was suprised at its size. Even folded it is a large item. And the cot is fairly heavy. This is not a wimpy product. Well made and strong. Assembly was easy. It takes a little elbow grease to attach the end pieces. But they do go on with a little work. The cot is large and comfortable. But as I stated earlier, it is a big cot, so make sure you have the room. Great product overal."

Tough to stretch/1st time,July 27, 2009
By oldercamperfrom CA
"While I understand the need to have a taut fabric surface to support various weight campers and that a camper should never attempt to assemble the cot under adverse circumstances (darkness, adverse weather, etc.) for the first time, this cot required either 1 skilled person with a "carpet stretcher" or 2 persons working together to stretch the fabric and fasten the end rods on the frame. I expect this will resolve itself as the fabric ages and possibly sags a bit as most of us do."

It's heavy,June 20, 2009
By BFootfrom Nebraska
"This is a heavy cot, very well built. It’s a little hard to get the end braces on but will probably stretch out over time. Throw a hunk of “egg crate” foam on it and you will get a good nights sleep."

Alaskan Guide Model Cot,June 15, 2009
By Bigfoot2009from Baltimore, MD
"This cot is not a lightweight product. At first I thought it was just too heavy in the bag, even though I am certainly not backpacking. However, when we used it last weekend, it was very sturdy and turned out, not so heavy as first thought. I have a very similar cot from another retailer, similar size, etc. This model has aluminum pins at the ends and the other version I have has plastic pins at the end and they are almost worn out after just a couple years of use. I think this one is going to last a while. I used this cot with a standard self inflating mattress on top and it was very comfortable."

Slept like a baby,June 15, 2009
By Goshalmightyfrom Eastern Washington State.
"I included a camping pad. No problem getting to sleep, and staying that way. I had a little trouble at first getting it set up, after a few times, it stretched out, and worked fine..."
