"The tent was easy to assemble with two people. It is spacious and, when disassembled, easy to get back into the storage bag. When in the storage bag is fairly compact for the size of tent."

    Great tent, October 5, 2009
    By MarioG from NH

"The 8 by 16 tent is so large, when you are use to backpacking tents. We are planning on using this for eating and dining, should the campground weather by inclement, and the bugs bad.
Set it up in the yard, easy once you do it once. It rained quite a bit, inside stayed try.
    Great tent!

Good big tent, September 30, 2009
    By Soilman from Kennewick, wa

"This tent was a good choice for me and my family. Bigger then I thought it would be, but I enjoy the space. Got a rip in the nylon mesh window before we even used it, but it is now patched and good to go. Even set up it up in the dark and did OK. Remember that these big cabin tents don't hold in heat very well so will be just as cold inside the tent as outside."

Very Nice, Size Not as Described, September 21, 2009
    By Robo983

"I rated this as a 4 only because the description was lacking to tell you that the ends of the tents reduce down about 1.5ft on each side from the stated size.

So the 8X16 only has a 5 foot end and the 20X10 has a 7 foot end. If you do not want to be touching the walls you have about a foot less than that. Even a queen does not go all the way to the end of the tent w/o touching the sides. If you talk to some one at Cabella about what their notes say (stuff you do not see in ad) they will tell you it is 4' for the 8X16 and 6' for the 10X20 usable space.

I only saw one other post that mentioned this and I thought it should be clearly pointed out in a more recent post.

If the short ends is not a problem the tent is everything else and was exactly what I wanted. The Rain Fly is awesome and covers the whole tent. If you read all the reviews you will get a good overview of what to expect but I had no problems at all and the quality was very good. Just wished it was a rectangle.

Also, I did return the tent and Cabella was, as mentioned, great with customer service and took care of the issue to my satisfaction.

    Cabela's Deluxe Backwoods Three-Room Cabin Tent, September 13, 2009
By Thunderbird1 from Rural Central New York

"We did a practice run on set up in our backyard before we took it out officially. Set up went very well. We found it to be quite easy to set up. It rained for a few days while we had it set up in the yard and there were no signs of leakage or water inside the tent at all.
When we took it out for the official first time(7 days), we found it to be HUGE. There was plenty of room for our family of four. I particularly enjoyed the height of the tent. We have a queen size air mattress as well as a twin size, two 5x7 carpets and all our gear. We had plenty of room to hang out inside.
It was very sturdy and the materials used seemed to be good quality. We would definately recommend this tent!

deluxe backwoods tent, September 8, 2009
    By Vaughn23

"Use it for the first time this weekend and loved it. My wife and I put it up in just under 30 minutes and I took it down myself. If you go by the directions it goes back in the bag nice and slick. The fly is great but you do need 2 people to put it on. I received so many compliments about this tent from other campers and just couldn't believe how great it was until I actually used it. It is a big tent so if you want a lot of room I would strongly urge you to get this tent. five stars across the board...."

    Huge Tent....Great Quality!, August 25, 2009
    By Tentlvr from Champaign, Il.

"This tent was bigger than i expected! Setting it up at 1:00 am was tricky but the hardest part was figuring out how the fly was supposed to go on top of the tent. Finally after awhile we figured it out. There was a huge storm that went through and the tent stood still in its tracks and let no water in. Overall quality was very good!"

Must have got a bad one, August 25, 2009
    By bhare

"As I read the reviews I can see that everyone is staying dry in the rain. I must have got a bad tent. My rainfly comes into contact with the screen roof top and when the heavy rains came, the water came in. I bought the tent for more space and we love the tent for that. Good luck to all with the rain fly keeping you all dry. I bought a 30'x20' tarp and tarp the entire tent on top of the rain fly. I have had the tent for 3 years now and I have been dry the last 2 years when I added the tarp. I am not sold on any light weight nylon tent rain fly keeping you dry. Overall average tent. Make the rainfly out of the same material as you did on your hexagon screen gazebo and this would be a much better tent."

Best Tent EVER!, August 18, 2009
By campgalore from North Woods of Wisconsin

"My Husband and I bought this tent a few years ago knowing that we would have a family soon. I had a very similar tent growing up only it was made of canvas. This tent is way better. We have camped in many rain storms, and stayed perfectly dry, many windy nights and yet nothing fell down, there is plenty of room for all 4 of us now, and even if the weathers bad we have plenty of space for indoor activities. I think that this tent is a great buy and i reccomend it to anyone who wants a tent that can actually fit 6 full grown adults. Another plus is that each room has its own exit so you dont need to bother others when you need to get out for a potty break at 4 a.m. The instructions are a little overdone, but if you've ever put up a tent before you'll be fine, and if you haven't i suggest setting it up in the back yard before you go as a practice run. all in all it is the best tent ever!"

lots of space, August 18, 2009
By berniemomof4 from Middleburgh Heights, Ohio

"We used our tent this past weekend in the rain. The rain fly kept off all moisture.
We bought our tent knowing Cabela's quality and have plenty of room for children to grow.
Easy to set-up and take down - remarkable for such a big tent.

    Great week, August 16, 2009
    By familytime6 from Indiana

"The tent was a hhit with my family of six there was enough room for all of us. The week was great execept for the rain storm that came through on Tuseday night, but tehe tent did a great job it kept out all of the rain and even did not seep thruogh the floor when there was standing water under one part of the tent. We really enjoyed our first camping week in the last eight years and are already talking about going again."

    Nice Tent, August 12, 2009
    By Friday001 from Glencoe MN

"I enjoy the tent, but the instructions could have been a little easier to understand. That is the only fault that I found. The awnings on each end do not have poles that come with this tent, so 4 additional poles are needed if you plan to use all three of them.

It withstood a thunderstorm the first night it was up, and the rainfly did not let any water into the tent.

Overall nice tent with those few exceptions.

    Quality Disappointment, August 10, 2009
    By HG082009 from New Hampshire

"The size was just what I was expecting. Unfortunately I have to ask if this is really Cabela's quality? Overall, I was truly disappointed with the quality. I did read the reviews prior to buying which did indicated some quality issues. However, I felt that whoever wrote those might just have received one that was not normal and representative of Cabela’s. I wish that were the case. As soon as I opened the tent it was obvious to me that the quality was less than what I expected from a company of this nature. The material, especially the sleeves to hold the ridge poles, was noticeably thin and I felt would not hold up to long term use. One of the side door zippers wouldn't open all the way because it was sown shut when they added the flap over the zipper, which is a great feature if done correctly. The first night we had rain and the rear window leaked, again from a quality issue. And finally one of the rip-cords within the poles broke when taking it down the first time. I will be returning this tent and will think twice about purchasing from Cabela's in the future when the reviews are mixed. How unfortunate for both of us."

Wet in the wilderness!!!, August 9, 2009
    By wilkster66 from Pennsylvania

"We just returned from our second camping trip with this tent and although it went up fairly easy the first time, it wasn't so easy the second time around. We had problems with the side support polls not staying put on ground that was fairly hard and all kinds of trouble getting the rain fly installed correctly...oh ya, it rained last night! Even though our tent was elevated (no standing water), water seeped it's way in the tent at every corner where the side walls connect to the floor. I know rain and camping go hand in hand and I rely on reviews when purchasing allot of different things but this tent didn't come close to it's high claims."

    Tent, August 9, 2009
    By Logman147

"I bought this tent about 4 years ago, and used it one time. I was the one who put it up and it went up easy sinse I am a retired military man I have put hundreds of tents up. This time I used it there was no wind at all for two days really not any rain also. So this next time I used it the tent being still brand new in the baggage it came in poles and all. I took my three grandsons fishing for the weekend and the tent once again went up very easy. The boys loved the tent and all the room with all the windows for vertilation. Here comes the big issue the wind kicked up to about 20 MPH and the tent was struggling to stay up. The ridge poles were bending like you would not believe. As my wife and I were eating our dinner I told her its just a matter of time that the poles were going to snap, and sure enough two broke and we had to take the tent down and leave the camp grounds a day early. I say its sad that this tent could not stand 20 MPH winds. I have used tents for over 20 plus years this pole system design is bad, the poles are not strong enough to keep the tent upright. The kind of money spent on this tent was wasted in my mind."

    AWESOME, August 3, 2009
    By barwal145881 from Rawson, Oh

"I puchased this tent via online order, to replace a tent that I bought from that new Ohio fishing place the week before that was not worth owning. I went to the shiny new place, and bought a similar shiny new tent that was a huge disappointment. I strayed away and it will never happen again. This tent is GREAT. The quality is outstanding. The tent is imported (bit of a disappointment there), but they must make it to Cabella's specs. We did not have time to put the tent up at home first. Arrived at the campsite, 4 adults had the tent up in 1/2 hour, the directions are pretty good. It rained lightly all night on first night, and the tent was bone dry in the morning. I did not waterproof it first like I thought I should have. (I'm glad I didn't waste the money). Stayed cool in the August heat during the day. Did not show signs of blowing away on the last evening when a cold front came in, then it rained all night again and was still dry. We took the tent down (2 adults and a teen) in sprinkles. Went into the bag easily. Put the tent up at home to dry, 2 adults 20 minutes. I wish the awning zippers were expandable gussets instead of seperate pieces, they would make nicer vestibules. Cabella's service will keep me coming back for all of my outdoor gear."
