Handheld Weather Forecaster,
October 15, 2009
By JGM3
from Idaho
|
"Got this for Christmas and love it. Small and compact and easy to take along on hunting trips in my day pack. When I am home I have it in my den and I look at it daily. Predicts rain and sunny days very well. Pretty cool gadget. The clip is a bit flimsy, it would have been nice if it was designed to fit in a carry case for better storage in day packs or even better designed to attach to clothing when outdoors."

Very Good Weather Equipment !,
October 6, 2009
By Knifefreak
from Arizona
|
"I have one of these Weather indicators and it functions flawlessly. It’s right on, on the weather outlook and warns you of an impending storm or severe weather. I have mine sitting on my dresser and check it every morning. It also tells the phase of the Moon which I use in my gardening, when to transplant, etc.
I also have an old ship Storm Bottle which between the two interments give me an edge on the weather – look up Storm Bottle on the Internet if you are not familiar with it. It’s a weather predictor from the 17th Century…..
You can’t go wrong with this electronic weather device as you can pack it in your pack when you go hiking in the mountains. Give you time to get out of Dodge when the weather changes for the worse and will keep you safe......"

Good, Easy to Use Device,
April 2, 2009
By Easy01
|
"My experience with using devices such as this one make ease of setting the various features (e.g., time and alarms) a premium. I found the Oregon Weather Forecaster easier to change most settings than other devices I've used. The wake up alarm could be made louder."

"This is a convenient device for time, temperature, and general weather conditions. It was easy to set up. My only concern is with the plastic clip-on attachment. It seems flimsy, and I don't trust it enough to wear it. I think their goal was to keep the weather sensors exposed, but they could have done better. Otherwise, the device performs well."

displaces when warning when treating weather,
August 14, 2008
By TASabala
from Spring Texas
|
"This is a great product, my children bought it for me father’s day a last year. I have been totally surprised of the accuracy of this thing. It trends in a 24 hour advances cycle so when it is going to rain at your location it is going to rain. It also displaces when warning when treating weather approaches, this is a life saver to when I am fishing in my aluminum John boat and lighting is approaching the water way. The warnings you receive are abut 20 minutes in advance of the national weather services. I also take it camping and I hunting, it keeps me high and dry"

Up to the minute weather,
January 7, 2008
By Jo45bo
from Seattle, WA
|
"I was looking for a small weather tool that would read humidity and temperture. I found it in this instrument. I use it at work for paint work so I know the temperture on site and the humitity at the site weather stations are too far away. The clip is too loose for jackets or clothing but I ususally carry it in a pocket and then hang it out near the painting area. Read quickly and has been accurate when compared to more expensive instruments."

Nice piece of gadget,

"I own this device for two weeks. Very interesting peace of small weather forecaster. Device has 2 positive hits for rain when I did not believe it would be that way. I have some notes: only 12, but not and 24 hour time, and no customization for date."

Good product, wish it was smaller,
September 24, 2007
By Seronac
|
"The Oregon Scientific Handheld Weather Forecaster is a great tool for keeping track of the weather. But, it's not the National Weather Service, so it won't tell you what the weather will be doing the day after tomorrow.
That said, it is great for short-term weather prediction and monitoring, and includes a handy clock and alarm. It is about the size of a deck of cards, which is good, but I wish it were about half that size, or, at least, thinner.
Also, the clip-on stand/belt clip is pretty much useless: it stands, but tends to fall over at the slightest bump. As a belt clip, it is not flexible enough to clip on a belt without breaking, and it's not stiff enough to stay on a shirt pocket. A completely new design is necessary here."

"Humidity and heat sensors are very sensitive, be carefull during pushing buttons and keeping the instrument in hand! You can read high values then reel, because of your hand heat and humidity. There is no numeric barometric value on the unit!"
