This is the first and only weather station in its class to use special frequency-hopping technology that enables the instrument shelter to be positioned as far away as 1,000 ft. from the receiver. Some weather stations require wire connections between the instruments and receivers, and other wireless models transmit only short distances, but with Vantage Pro 2 the instruments could be positioned in a farm field, a schoolyard or atop a multi-story building as long as line-of-sight contact with the receiver is maintained. Typical transmission range through walls is up to 400 ft. The sensor suite is solar-powered and components are housed inside a weather-resistant shelter equipped with a radiation shield that minimizes impact of solar radiation and other heat sources on the readings. Receiver console can be powered by AC or three C batteries (not included). Stores over 2,000 historical averages, high ans lows, and totals. Updates data every 2.5 seconds. Weather information includes current temperature, humidity, rainfall data, wind direction and speed, sky condition icons, on-screen data graphing, barometric pressure, forecast information, high, low and average temperatures and data recall from information stored in memory. Made in USA. Console: 6.13"H x 10.38"W x 1.5"D.
Sensor suite dimensions: 11"W x 9.38"H x 14"D.

Nice piece of equipment,March 17, 2009
By Barnziefrom NE, Ohio
"I have tried numerous. less expensive, systems available only to be disappointed. This system is very nice. The ease of setup was amazing. Also the fact that the system has solar powered data collection sensors is a godsend. I was always frustrated with the short life cycle of batteries during cold weather on other units. I have only been using the system for a short time and so far am very pleased."

Davis Wireless Vantage Pro 2 Weather Station,January 7, 2008
By ElkCountryfrom Westcliffe, Colorado
"This is an excellent product. I have it at a vacation home in Colorado. Mounted the instrument pod on a 4x4 post in concrete approx. 50 yards from the house / consol. Set up was simple and the wireless signal from the pod to the console in the house is excellent. Purchased seperate software to link the consol information to a computer. Can check weather at any moment in Colorado via the internet from our home in Texas."

Davis Wireless Vantage Pro 2 weather station,October 11, 2007
By SATexfrom San Antonio, Texas
"This is my 4th unit using the same model in 3 other locations. It is easy to set up and operate. Be usre to order mounting masts or other mounting materials, the tripod mast they sell is pricey but it works well and is easy to use.
The unit display ishows everything you would want and then some. My only compalint is the anenometer does not last as long as the rest of the unti and its replacement cost is very high - like $125 last time I looked.
I have not been able to find another manufacturer's model for the price with the same features."

Ultimate weather station,April 15, 2007
By Jenkins007from Seguin, TX
"Of all the weather stations I have tried and looked at, this one is the best. The range is incredible. The sensor array is located through 100 yards of trees, past a 30'x60' metal shop, and in a field. The reception through an exterior wall indicates 97%. I had issues with Oregon Scientific rain gauges placing them straight above on a metal roof (those were rated at 100', but could not make it through the roof down 10'); but no issues with the Pro 2. The unit tracks many variables including day, month, and year tracking. Using the graph, you can move back in time and it will indicate what the variable was, for the specific time and date. The rain monitoring is particularly useful. It will show how much rain for the storm - even if the storm last many days, for the day, month, and year. It also shows the rate of rain: rain per hour showing how hard it is raining. While it is raining, the display tell you it is raining by indicating an umbrella and the ticker tape on bottom shows "it is raining cats and dogs". That's the icing on the cake!"
