"I bought this reel in a pinch for a first time bowfishing trip. It works for the general purpose of bowfishing. The things that bothered me were the line twist and lack of power when reeling. The line twist seems to be unavoidable with these reels, its really a pain sometimes when you try for a quick reload and the line twines together and you have to let your arrow hang and untwist. As for lack of power, after making a shot, you cant just crank on the handle and retrieve the arrow. I had to pull in the line by hand and then reel in the slack. even with the drag tightened all the way this still happens when your arrow is in the weeds or you have a fish on. I wish somebody would really make a more refined reel of this type for bow fishing, they are simple and effective for the most part, faster to take on and off than the retriever reel. My next purchase will be the retriever reel."

"This product worked great up untill my first encounter with a fish on the other end of my arrow. This was my third time using this product . After i reeled in the twenty plus pound carp the next time i attepted to shoot again my reel locked up and would not release line. My line then broke off therefore losing my thirty dollar arrow in the creek. Overall this was a good product untill after i reeled in my first fish. My hope is that it is just a defective reel. I will hopefully recieve another zebco 808 bowfishing reel in the mail. After i test out my new reel when i get it in, depending on the performance, I might change my opinion on this product!!!"

"I was highly displeased with this product,for the simple fact of the drag. I cant seem to get the drag tight enough to even real in the arrow after a missed shot. I would not expect to be able to reel in a fish on it but atleast be able to retrieve the arrow."

"Very dissapointed. Set everything up as soon as I recieved the product and went outside to take some practice shots. Took nine shots and had two hangups inside reel and two arrows break off again do to hangups. Tried wetting the line and other things like under five yard shots but nothing worked. Going to stick to my regular bow fishing reel. Spend the extra bucks and buy the other setup."

"I bought this reel in hopes of starting a new hobby i was so excited when i got it however on my very first shot into the water the line hung and kawhop there went my arrow. and on other times the line wouldnt break and the arrow would come back at me. it was the biggest disapointment ever. I should have never wasted my money.I just purchased the kit from cabelas and from what i hear it is the way to go. will write back when i see how it works."

"The design of spinner reels makes them fast to use than that of even the retriever reel. Only down side I had with this reel was that I sheared the pins on a shot, not too good. Other than that though, the drag system is great and the reel itself is a great addition if you want to make many quick shots and land fish quickly."
