"Its nice to be able to replace your pump motor when you want to. For the most part they install very easy. I personally think that the life span of the motor could be more. I see some competitors motors lasting longer."

"First, I had a difficult time finding this replacement cartridge for my 1998 Bayliner 2050SE Capri at the usual marine stores. When I did, the prices were also higher. The replacement cartridge was so easy to install that my 17 year old son did it so he could get back in the water. I really like the design and simplicity of this bilge pump system."

"the cartridges are great and easy to change out. the only bad point is the plastic keeper that keeps the cartridge in the body is thin plastic and can easily break. overall this is a great product."

"I replaced the original recirculating pump in my bass boat's livewell with a 500gph Mayfair cartridge-style pump last summer because I figured it would be much easier to replace just the motor should the need arise. I was right - changing out the motor was a breeze!
I must admit, though, that I was a little disappointed in the life-span of the original motor, which I estimated to be just under 80 hours. Hopefully, the new one will last a little longer."

"OK, this isn't your normal fishing type of review. We used these little motor cartridges for our underwater robot. They have worked perfectly so far, the one reliable part on the bot. We only use them to the bottom of a normal college pool, about 15 feet. We take off the impeller and add a propeller and thrust adapter."

"I've had my Ranger 521 for two years and so far I've replaced the Mayfair Livewell pumps two times each and I've just ordered two replacement cartridges today. Thank goodness for Cabela's where you can buy just the replacement cartridges and not have to pay for the whole unit. Maybe the third try will be the charm, but running the pumps continously during 20-25 tournaments during the year is a huge strain on any product. When they work, they're great, but be sure to have replacements on board, ready to go."

"My original livewell pump last about 7 years. When it went out, I assumed I would have to buy a whole new unit. Then I discovered that this Johnson unit has a replaceable/interchangeable motor. Got an exact replacement from Cabelas for $10.99. Installed it in seconds, and it works great! Thanks!!!!"

"First one I ordered was defective out of the box. Very noisy after continuous use at 20 to 30 minutes. This was the reason for replacing the original. The next replacement pump is working OK so far (about 16 hours), but noisier than original pump was as OEM in boat. The noise is "bearing" type noise bad enough to spook fish."

"Bought this replacement pump, wired it in and away it went. Works excellent, even picked up a spare for the boat. Caution, do work on the pump out of the water, when removed in the water, the water really comes in. Don't run the pump dry at all."

"I had these johnson / mayfair pumps put in my boat when I baught it in 1996. This has been the first time I had a problem with them after 11 years on use. These pumps have a 2 year warranty but they last along time. But because I used these pumps it is so easy to change them by just twisting and replacing the motor. An eight year old can replace these without tools. They are the best and I would recommend them to anyone replacing their pumps.
