I really like my new tent, August 25, 2008
By friendstarfish

"I just used this tent for the first time. My ONLY problem was that the little flap where the zipper is kept getting stuck in the zipper. I really think it was just doing it because it was so stiff from being brand new ( at least I hope). Once I starting using my other hand to kinda keep the flap out of the way while I was zippering I had no problems.
Everything worked great other than that. Fast and easy set up. I really like the double doors with the screen so I could get a nice cross draft. It is perfect for one person, just enough room plus gear. I went camping at yosemite national park.

Cute but Leaky, May 17, 2008
By SugarbearsTruckn

"Cute little tent really. Sets up quickly, even for those of us who tend to not pull out the instructions. Lots more room than I expected. The vestibule's will even keep your boots dry in a gentile yet lengthy rain. The tent however will not keep you dry in the gentile yet lengthy rain. The seams and the tent itself do not leak but since the vestibule's do not completely cover the doors the water pools in the seams on the bottom of the door zippers and ever so slowly seeps in through the stitching making for nice puddles come morning."

Great little tent, September 18, 2007
By eream18

"This tent offers everything as advertised. Extremely easy set-up/take-down, good ventilation, dry, and large enough for two big people (I'm 6'4" and my friend who was sharing it was 6').

I was debating between this tent and the Eureka Pinnacle Pass, but chose this one because it has more sturdy materials and I heard the inside stays drier during inclement weather. The only major drawback is that this tent weighs a bit more.

All in all, a great tent.

Great performer, great specs - UNTIL...., September 13, 2007
By CamperDad from Upstate NY

"Very nice tent for the money and at a great price. (I also have a Kelty Gunnison 2 and I had an Eureka Exo 2 man for comparison).
This has more head room and floor space than almost every tent in this category (two poles, two man, two door) especially in this price range. This genuine two man tent really holds two men and gear right inside the tent (The Gunnison 2 man is cramped with 2 and relies on the vestibules for gear storage).
The Hybrid design and combination sleeve/hook set up of the Apex lets you set up in under 3 minutes. It also saves weight and packing space because it's like packing 2/3rd tent and 2/3 rainfly. It actually weighs less than most tents this size billed as "ultralight" and it's aluminum framed brother is one lb lighter yet! You get an ultralight without making your wallet ultralight.
Ventilation is unbeatable with a ton of screen to allow star-gazing on a nice night or breathability when you're hunkered down in the rain. Absolutely no condensation forms inside if you have to zip up tight.
The "bat-wing" vestibules are interesting. I don't really care for the way they increase your footprint, but they work very well to provide a windbreak for a small cook stove and are deep enough to store your boots or some gear. I think they could be about 10 - 14 inches shorter however. I may cut and re-sew mine.
It has handy storage pockets but could use a hanger hook for your lamp in the peak and a gear loft would be nice.
But here is a REAL drawback: The zippers are NOT under cover of the vestibule. I think the doors were installed with easy entry in mind, but I'd rather reach a little and have a rain-free entry in a rainstorm. The doors open completely to the elements and rain runs right down and in. Worse yet, it runs down off the overhanging rainfly and into the door. I don't know how the previous reviewer stayed dry. There is also no way to use the screens in the rain. If the doors and screens zipped all the way around and had double zippers this would be a very excellent tent in all conditions. You could even open the door a little and set your boots outside from inside the tent. So for now, my Gunnison is a much better storm shield.
