Cheek Pad/Comb riser,November 10, 2009
By M2MikeGolffrom Germany
"I purchased one of these for a scout scoped M-1 Garand with a DGR custom laminated wood stock. After trying the USGI sniper cheekpads, which only add a cheekpiece and no riser, I realized I needed the riser more. I tried the "stick-on" variety, and they came partially unglued and it was very difficult to remove the residue/glue from my stock. This was a perfect compromise, as I never needed a cheekpiece as much as the riser. It looks super on my Garand, and will order one for another custom M-1. So far, I have not seen a cheekpiece/riser that worked this well and looked this good on an M-1. The 3/4" riser is perfect for scope height. The laces aren't that great, but of little consequence and easy to replace."

poor fit,September 1, 2009

"I purchased this cheek pad for a .270 browning X-bolt. I tried the Accu-Riser Cheek Pad – Strap-on and couldn’t get it to fit the gun very well at all. Cabelas was great about the return. Then I ordered this Cabelas Leather Cheek Pad. I really had hopes that it would be just what I was looking for. It went on easily and fit fairly well, however then the problem happened. The bolt of the rifle would not open all the way. It would hit the cheek pad. Due to the comb of the stock I was unable to secure the cheek pad further back on the stock. I really believed that I had found the answer however I guess the answer is some other place; Thus my low rating. The cheek pad may just be fine for other rifle stocks. It just doesn’t work well with the browning stock."

Good but needs some updates,May 20, 2008

"I liked the fit and finish. However, I just wish this product was designed with a velcro closure rather than the leather laces. It would make life a lot easier to take the pad on and off. Storing your gun with the pad on is not a good idea."

Comb raiser,February 23, 2008
By 12ray
""Cheek pad" is not a good description - "Comb Raiser" would probably be better. Main use will be to raise comb of rifle stock for use with high scope mounts."

Nice item but needs adjusting.,January 16, 2008

"This cheek pad worked out excellent in raising my eye up to the line of sight for the scope. Only problem I had with it was that it interfered with the bolt on my Ruger 77. The rear of the bolt would hit the pad when opening it to chamber a shell."

cheekpad,November 11, 2007
By JasoninCSfrom China Spring, Texas
"I bought this for my wife's Browning A-bolt. She is only 5 feet tall and quite small-framed so I had to cut her rifle stock down nearly three inches which severly lowered her cheek weld position making it very uncomfortable for her to properly align her eye with the scope. The differing heights of this product make it very vesatile. However, I used the 3/4 inch tall pad and found that the bolt will hit the first inch or so of the pad when pulled fully to the rear of it's stroke. This does not lock the bolt up, but does slow it down greatly and may eventually tear the the leather. To remedy this I simply used a round soldering iron (while hot) to shrink the leather and pad in the bolts path and have had no problems since. The 1/4 or 1/2 inch tall pads shouldn't have this problem. The brass eyelets are covered on the underside by more leather so a wood stock will not be scratched (very nice addition) and my wife thinks the leather pad with leather lacing "looks pretty cool" too! She loves it and doesn't have to crane her neck down anymore."

Cabela's cheek rest/pad, lace on.,August 13, 2007
By bullwrinklefrom Maine
"The lace which is used to lace on the pd is flimsy, weak, prone to breakage and stretches. I will need to find suitable laces for the three pads I purchased. The one which I put on a Mossberg Model 500A was loose after less than one round of trap, despite the lace being stretched as much as possible without breaking the lace in order to make the pad tight. The catalog shows another pad, by some other maker, on the opposite page; one dollar more, but probably alot better. This product is not a good example of purchasing the "store brand" product to get an equal or better quality product at a better/lower price. Big mistake."

Cabela's Leather Cheek Pad,June 11, 2007
By CWB2from Troy, MI
"The product works as advertised and is reasonably attractive. I bought one each of all three versions (1/4" rise, 1/2" rise and 3/4" rise) and wound up fitting them to two scoped rifles and an O/U shotgun. After my first round of skeet with the pad installed I noticed that the pad would creep forward during repetitive firings. I found that it helped to keep the pad in place during the next round by using double face tape on the stock under the pad. Otherwise, my only complaint is that the leather lacing used to secure the pad to the stock is quite thin. I snapped it in two on my first installation trying to get a snug fit."

Cabela's Leather Cheek Pad,November 20, 2006
By rsh253from Washington State
"Cabela's leather cheek pad is nicely made, good looking and easy to install. Unfortunately, it just didn't work on the Winchester Model 94 I purchased it for. No matter how tight I tried to lace it, as I fired the rifle it would creep forward and them go lose . I could probably apply a glue to keep it in place, but I am unwilling to do that as I don't want to mar the stock. I think this would be a problem with any lace-on cheek pad, just not this one. I cannot recommend this product."
