Molded Ear Plugs,
November 19, 2009
By ejthomas
from Ringtown, Pa.

"I needed a set of ear plugs that I could wear with my helmet when riding my ATV. I thought these would work for me. The "putty" was a little difficult to put in my ear to make the mold of my ear. Once formed and hardened, it was easy to get it out again. It does work, but takes some time to get the plugs re-inserted in your ears. It takes two hands to get them back in."

Custom Molded Earplugs,
September 10, 2009
By JeffreyMD

"If you are careful and do these right, you will end up with very comfortable and effective earplugs for a very reasonable price. The directions say to leave them in your ear for 10 minutes to let them harden. After 10 minutes, mine were still way too soft to take out. I ended up leaving them in for 30 minutes for each ear. Then I let them cure in the open air for another 3 hours as the directions suggest. Don't be afraid to push them in your ear a bit to get a nice snug fit so they will stay in after they harden. Mine are now very comfortable, I can wear them for hours at the sporting clays range and they muffle the sound of my shotgun really well."

Custom Molded EAr Plugs,

By Erwin

"The molding process was a snap. I believe I went through the procedure correctly all the way. The finished product fit well into each ear, but did not reduce noise to a safe level. Not even close. I would not recommend this product."

Custom-molded Ear Plugs,
August 4, 2009
By dlshooter

"This was the second time I bought this product. It's also the second time I threw the results in the trash. It's probably just me---I find these plugs very much inferior in both comfort and sound attenuation to the foam types of plugs that one rolls up and inserts. I also prefer electronic over the ear muffs except when the weather is too hot for them to be comfortable. Hot weather use was the reason I tried this system again. Just doesn't work for me."

Fair,

"Before purchasing I read the reviews on this product and saw some that were good and others that were very bad. I thought I would take a chance and give these plugs a try myself thinking that the people that were negative about them probably did not follow the easy to read and follow instructions. My purpose for these plugs were to block the wind noise under my motorcycle helmet. I carefully formed the plugs and molded them to my ear and gave them ample time to individually set up. The results were surprisingly less then expected. Although the plugs cover the recess of the outer ear and moderately penetrate the inner ear the noise attenuation seems to be less then a foam earplug moderately squeezed into the ear. My recommendation is to spend your money on the foam ear plugs and use earmuffs as necessary.."

Great swimming plygs,
July 11, 2009
By Eduardo7
from Newport Beach ,CA
|
"I had order a custom made swimming plugs for $100 a pair from a audiologist. They hurt the ears for being hard and not too flexible and they were not as sealing as those sold by Cabela's. I read some review from customer and I noticed that some people may not have follow the instructions. Also for swimming you should pull up on the ear before insert the plugs and applying vaseline will help getting a tighter seal. I have worn many other plugs. Type sold in drugstores, but they all leaks and they do not last. I have found Cabela's Custom-Molded Earplugs to be the best quality and good price . You get to follow the instructions closely. I could not follow well the first time. Now I will be getting a couple more for my family. Very happy about it!"

Very little hearing protection,
March 30, 2009
By seyfren

"These custom moldable ear plugs seemed great when I molded them to my ears with great noise attenuation while curing. However when reinserted after curing, they did not seal my ear canal snuggly even when well seated and barely attenuated noise. Seemed like a great concept, but failed to work in the field."

Disappointing,
March 17, 2009
By smays
from Rockville, MD
|
"I wanted this product to work well... but they just don't. I bought two pairs. The first time, even though I followed the directions and waited over 10 minutes for them to set, one side was still a little soft and got messed up when I pulled them out. Probably my fault. The second time it worked fine... I waited over 20 minutes this time. But as some others mentioned, putting them back in they never fit as well as they did while they were setting. They didn't make a tight seal and even after wearing them for a while, they didn't sufficiently 'snug up' as the instructions said they would. If anyone has a suggestion, I'm all ears (no pun), but for now I'm disappointed."

Self Molded Ear Plugs,
February 3, 2009
By Bigear
from Nashville
|
"The ear plugs are a great idea but must be formed quickly. Mine did not turn out as good as I would prefer. I plan to order a second kit and redo them. I believe the two parts need to be mixed quickly and a roll made that can be inserted into the ear canal. After inserting the roll into the ear canal the remaining material can be pushed into the outer ear to aid in retention when inserted. Not much of the material actually went into my ear canal and as a result the finished plugs do not stay in my ear or shield enough sound."

Great Hearing Protection,
December 30, 2008
By LongIslandgooseHunter
from Long Island NY
|
"My daughter and I both use the custom molded ear plugs while goose hunting and find that they offer great hearing protection and are comfortable enough to wear for hours without becoming a distraction. The ear plugs provide protection from the blast of the shotgun while enabling us to carry on a conversation in the pit without yelling. They are also the best ear plugs I have used while calling geese."

Don't bother,

"You would be better off putting a couple of crumpled up dollar bills in your ears. It would be cheaper and just as effective. They don't fit snug enough to seal out the noise. Expanding disposables work 10X better."

"Easy to mold, just be careful not to wait too long, I suggest don't mix it in your fingers for more than 10 seconds, sets up fast. My 3 year old wouldn't sit still for the doctor to make them, so we gave this a try and it worked great. A lot cheaper too!!"
