"I haven't actually tied on any other fluoro tippet to date, but I can't imagine it getting much better than this. I bought Fluoro Plus because it had the best strength-to-diameter ratio on the market at the time. I use 3x here in WV for smallmouth bass and couldn't really ask for more. The only down side is the price, but I don't think quality tippet is something to skip out on."

"Seemed good. I hadn't used fluorocarbon for a while. This product seemed improved over what I used before as far as the way knots tied and held. I still prefer to use regular mono most of the time because I've heard that fluorocarbon never breaks down if you lose some."

"I use this tippet exclusively for both Drop Shot rig leader and fly tippet (different wts of course). I’ve pulled in 10 lb walleye on the 3x tippet with no line or knot breakage. Double Uni-knot to 6 lb Fire line / Polymar knot to hook for Drop Shot. Flies attached with improved Cinch knot."

Poor knot strength,November 14, 2007

"Based on the recommendation of the Cabela's fly fishing sales associate at my local store, I purchased 7X Rio Fluoroflex. On my first outing using this product, I lost my first two rainbows with line breaks at the fly. I tried one more time and tied on a #18 nymph with another pattern size #20 as a trailer, and the tippet broke again on my first cast at the knot attached to the leader. The water temp was 58 degrees F, which is normal for where I fish. What seemed to be the problem is that this line is too soft to hold the tension of knots. I was using the Orvis knot on the fly end and Perfection loop on the leader end of the tippet. I then switched to another tippet brand and had no problems with knot breaks for the rest of the day."

"I used this in Alaska for salmon fishing - kings, silvers, reds and also for trout and dolly varden. It came recommended to me and I also enjoyed this product and it worked great. Very supple, easy to tie knots with, yet still strong. Great product."

"The best flourocarbon trout tippet I have found. Strong, supple and knots well. Rio adds a nice touch to the tippet spools, by having a hole in the spool band, for easy dispensing. Good stuff."
