12' Crappie Rod,
August 13, 2009
By UniqueNameMyFoot
from N-W Indiana
|
"This is a great rod for jigging or trolling, not casting. I bought it for a spinning setup and the guides are simply way too small for a good cast. I did have a lot of fun trying though. Weight was not a problem, even at 12' it was very easy to handle, also I didn't have any problems with the reel moving around like I have had with other rods that don't have a stationary reel seat."

Light Action 12' Whuppin Stick,
June 23, 2009
By thrashmaster
from Pawhuska, OK
|
"I bought this rod for may Dad on father's day. It was a little heavier than what I expected...although very durable. We went out on the lake with my jon boat and he was using it with slip cork and worms, fishing about 20ft deep. We caught about 5 Sumo-sized Shellcrackers and about 20 Linebacker Bluegills that day. He had never used a pole of this size before, but after fighting several of those brute-sized perch with it he confessed to having a blast. I was very surprised at how well the simple mechanism for holding the reel worked. The rings cinched down very tight, and this also offered some flexibility for how far up or down the rod you attached the reel. He said it was the best gift he had received in a long time."

Best Value for the Money!,
April 23, 2009
By BrianFromOhio
from Ohio

"This is the first rod I have purchased in the last 5 years that did not cost over a hundred bucks. I may not buy as many rods as some other guys but I always try to buy the best I can with the funds I have. I started doing a little more crappie fishing this year and was looking for a new rod. After reading the other reviews on these rods I decided to give one a try, figured I wasn't out much if I didn't like it. I love it! For the price its excellent. Works great floatin minnows or casting light jigs."

"Since i dont own any sort of boat i bought the 8 foot model to hopefully improve casting distance to smallies and trout (i live on a major stream) and it works perfectly for every kind of fishing i do. From inline spinners to float and fly this rod does everything. Dont hesitate to buy."

slightly disapointed,

"I like the action of my 8 foot crappie rod, but am disappointed that there is no "solid" place to mount the reel. During use, I find that the reel moves around the rod, putting the guides at odd angles to the reel."

Great Kokanee Rod for the money,
September 26, 2008
By Fish4ever
from San Jose, CA
|
"Bought an 8'6" model just out of curiosity and it ended up at Lake Tahoe and Stampede Reservoir on my boat's rod rack. I never imagined it would be such a find as it held up to the hard yankin' on stiff releases on those deep water downrigger weights. I've broken a few rods which cost many times of this one. Being a crappie rod, it has the ideal action for those soft mouths of kokanees. I already ordered a 7 footer as the 8'6" is just a mite too long for hooking up the releases. I also modified the reel seat by removing all the EVA handle but the first 5-6" which became the foregrip. Also saved the EVA end as a butt cap with careful cutting and twisting. Glued on a proper reel seat and EVA butt handle which eliminated the problem of those rings loosening while fishing. I plan on doing this on future purchases before next season."

9' Crappie rod,
July 7, 2008
By DoorCountyFishingBum
from Door County Wisconsin, Smallmouth Fanatic
|
"I got this rod for throwing small spinners at smallmouth bass in rocky flats during spring and summer. It is a hoot to get a good smallie on this rod and it handles them very nicely with a good Diawa reel and 4# test Fireline. I had a problem with the reel comming loose in the Tennessee rings, but a little electrical tape solved that. It does get a bit heavy after a while, but I simply switch to a smaller rod for a few minutes and then its fine. Great rod for the money."

Whuppin' Stick,
July 5, 2008
By WhitefishNut
from Northern Michigan
|
"I ordered this rod to replace a 10-foot rod that I had used for whitefish for many years. It's a little more limber than I would have preferred, but it is definitely sensitive and has worked pretty well so far. I need another rod for whitefish so that I'll have two, so if I can get one that has a bit heavier action, I'll be all set with them."

Cabela's Whuppin' Stick Crappie Rod,
April 15, 2008
By Panfisaholic
from Fletcher, Ohio
|
"The Cabela Whuppin' Stick Crappie Rod is just what I've been looking for. It's perfect for jigging for Crappies and pan fish. I am using a trigger type light weight reel with it for a perfect combination. I will always use Cabela's products. Not just fishing equipment, but also clothing, camping, hunting, and home products. Cabela's products are of the highest quality I have been able to find. And the prices are a bargain for such good quality. Thank you very much Dick"

"I really like the action of these rods...my only complaint however, is the reel seats. They are not the "screw in" type, they are just plastic "slide" type with no way to truely lock your reel down, but other than that it seems to be a good crappie rod for the price."
