Lure's holding eye hook,September 23, 2009
By diazklmfrom Lancaster, Ca
"This is a great lure that I love to use for Striped Bass in Castaic Lake, CA. I would give it 5 star except that I just lost one of them because of the eye hook weakness. A rather large fish took it in a boil and bent open the eye hook. I would like Heddon to redesign it and weld the eye hook to avoid the fish from escaping with a lure in their mouth. It works great and it is very easy to "walk the dog"."

Another classic,May 20, 2007
By Blastenfrom NE Ohio
"I have been fishing cigar-style baits for eleven years, now, and have tried many different types, including several of the "high end" lures costing over 20 dollars. They were all nice, but none of them were able to usurp the venerable Zara Spook as my go-to lure for walk-the-dog action. However, since I have started fishing the Swayback Spooks a year ago, I am beginning to feel that I like these even more than the original design.
The first advantage is that they cast like the proverbial bullet. Even without a weight-shifting system, as featured on other types of baits, this thing flies, perhaps due to sheer mass, alone. I am able to get around 25 percent more distance, when compared to other spook designs. In fact, aside from casting plugs, I have never really matched the distance I get with these using anything else.
The second advantage is that they walk even more easily than the already-easy Spook. As I stated before, I had used these types of baits for over a decade, and walking a Spook was second nature - even with a stout, heavy-action graphite rod. As easy as it was, this lure walks even better. The nose sits up high above the water, and cuts back and forth with ease. Each twitch sends it darting in the other direction, causing a small wall of water to form in front of it, not unlike the characteristic splash of a popper. Never have I had the bait nose-dive, or roll over on itself.
Some other characteristics of this bait are as follows:
At rest, this bait sits rather vertically - beyond 45 degrees, I would say. This leaves the feather-dressed tail dangling precariously.
The colorations seems a bit drab, but I can say that the construction of this bait is such that it has a bit of a prismatic nature, resulting in an iridescent sheen in the bait. However, I don't think it is that much of a consideration, anyhow, as when it comes to this type of bait, 10-dollar paint (that will wear off in a couple of outings) isn't really going to make much of a difference. These baits are about action, as the fish never really gets a chance to analyze the color patterns - they usually strike hard, and out of aggression.
This is a great bait, and if you like the classic Spook style, you really should try this one out."

"this bait is ausome ive caught large mouth bass, small mouth bass, norhtern pike, musky, walleye. Ive discovered an excellent method on how to use this bait that will drive these fish bonkers. Most of the fish I catch are big fish and they hit this bait very hard! Ive caught some that jump completely out of the water. Try this bait and find this perfect top water action and your fishing trips will be exciting!. p.s. I allways get agood size fish on my first cast."
