"The Rod was good but not a match for 8 lb test and the reel needed lubrication and still was rough. I swithced them around with other older camp gear and left them for the kids and drop by guests."

"I've always liked the underspin reels. They're like an open face without the hassle. This is a very nice combo. It is light,well balanced and is a lot smoother than my Zebco 44. The rod is light and has the just right feel for my use. I can't wait to use it for brook trout the end of April. I cannot see any reason why one would not be happy with the purchase of this combo."

"I hate to be the one to give this a bad review - especially since I own two other Pfluegers - Patriarch Baitcaster and Supreme Spinning reel. Both are fantastic and two of the best reels that I've ever owned. This Underspin reel has some problems. It worked flawlessly for about a half hour and then it would no longer reel in the line. I took it apart, being very careful in case any parts dropped out. Everything seemed in order, so I put it back together. Once again it wouldn't reel in the line. I took it apart and put it back together several times to no avail. Finally got tired of doing this and now the reel is sitting on a shelf until I get more time to look at it. This is the first time I've owned a reel of this type, so maybe there's something that I'm overlooking (which is why I gave it 2 stars - just in case) - in which case the problem is user error. Still - it was working and then it wasn't - don't really know what else to say about that."

"First reel of this type I have ever had and it takes some getting use to. I had to change the handle so I could reel with my right hand. That means you have to change hands after casting. Seems like a good quality rod and reel combo."
