"I got one of these reals about two years ago and since then I have bought two more. They are awsone reels and they last forever. I have had one for two years and it is still working great. They are smooth casting and can handle big fish. in canada a couple months ago i caught a 15 pound northren on a Exeler 2000 with a 6'6 medium rod. its a great reel!"

Redfish Tour,
October 17, 2009
By fishgazam

"I have used the Exceler reels for three seasons on the redfish tour. Not only does this reel hold up great to salt water but the little 1500 reel handles 27 inch reds with ease. I use mostly the 2500 version, however the 200 version is great for lighter weight rigs.
Ive been using Diawa reels for 28 years and was a tournament SS reel fan. A Diawa rep turned me onto this reel at an event we were doing together. I strongly reccomend this product!

1 small glitch,
April 12, 2009
By fishermandan
from Dallas, Georgia
|
"Have had mine for about 2 years and it still cast a mile. I use mine for Stik-o worms only with no wieghts. Just got back from a week ii Fla. and it caught over 50 bass and the only problem was with the handle screw would not stay tight. Every thing else about this reel works great. By the way ON most spinners you should always put the bell down by hand. There is only a small bering that works this and it will wear out. So add life to your reel and do it by hand."

Daiwa Exceler,
March 10, 2009
By JerseyBassman
from Central New Jersey. Good Bass and Trout waters.

"Haven't had a chance to use it yet but have examined it closely. It's very smooth on the "retrieve" with no wobble as the bail spins. Bail pick up is clean and quite. Looks to very well made and I am happy with the overall design. I've cast a few times in the back yard and it feels like a winner! Can't wait get on the water for the real test."

Exceler 2000 & 2500... good but not great!,
February 6, 2009
By pioneerguy
from CA
|
"After reading some of the early hype on this reel, I purchased both a 2000 and a 2500 size. My wife uses the 2000 size and I use the 2500. We have been using these reels for about a year and a half. The good news is: 1-The gearing is very smooth. 2-They are well balanced. 3-Light in weight. 4-The drag is excellent with a wide adjustment range. 5-They cast and handle line well... but IMHO not quite as well as the SS Tournament Whisker. The bad news is: 1-The screw that holds the handle on is a joke! This thing always works its way loose. You always have to check for tightness. This has been a problem for years on many of their reel models. Isn't there a better way that this can be done? 2-The bail fails to fully close about once every ten times when the handle is cranked. This happens on both reels. If you close the bail by hand then this is a non-issue. If you close the bail by cranking on the handle than this gets to be very annoying. It seems to be a small design flaw that needs to get addressed. Overall, just an good reel for the price... not a great one."

Daiwa Exceler® Spinning Reels,
December 19, 2008
By Anand
from Bangalore, India
|
"Extremely smooth and yet feels like well in control. I also have a Shimano Symetre and another from a Shakesphere combo offer.. and among the trio, I found this the best.. Good value for the money. The one addition that I would have preferred would be another 50 yards of line in, for longer casts with a heavier strength braid ..."

Great Reel But......,
July 3, 2008
By Speckul8r
from Virgina Chesapeake Bay
|
"These are really nice reels. I'm most impressed with the drags. A lot larger thann a comparable sized Shimano. But, be careful. There is a little pin that holds the handle to the shaft assembly and if the knob that tightens the handle is loose, that pin will fall out. Lots of fun to find and replace while in the boat!"

"I own a Daiwa Exceler EXC 4000 reel and I like it very much. It performed flawlessly while I was pulling out a 21 LBS big Northern Pike. Very powefull drag and smooth casting. It is the best reel I have ever had, now I will really forget for ever about Shimano reels."

Nice Reel,
February 27, 2008
By Bearfromwashington
from Kent, WA
|
"Bought the 3000 took up to Alaska. It made it two trips landing many Reds and a couple Kings. Then the bail started acting up. By this I mean, not staying closed. Causing a lot of missed fish. Had it for over two years. Just sent it in to Daiwa and they fixed it no questions asked for free. Cant argue that. Very smooth reel for casting large salmon lures all day long. Feels great."

Very Happy,
January 31, 2008
By MrWilly
from Murray Bridge, South Australia
|
"I ordered the Daiwa Exceler on the recommendation of a friend who is a rod builder and was building me a rod. I have never been happier with a reel I have bought. Being an international buyer (from Australia) I was a bit nervous, but the price was less than half the RRP in Australia (A$169) even including shipping. I was originally told it could take between 8-12 weeks to arrive, and being Christmas time I thought that was fair enough. I couldn't believe it when it arrived in only 10 days!!!! An awesome reel to use, casts beautifully, handles fish with ease, awesome smooth drag. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!"

"I absolutely love what diawa has done in such an affordable package. This is an extremely smooth reel with a great feel. The large spool size reduced line memory and increased casting distance. This reel has all of the features of ones costing twice to three times as much."

Dissapointed in this reel!,

By striperchaser32
from Granbury,TX.

"I bought the exceler in the 4000 size to use in my tailrace striper fishing, and every 5 or 6 casts the bail closes on me,losing lures every time;tried to return it but it's been almost a year since I bought it,coudn't do it.Maybe I need to buy the most expensive line of daiwa reels, but with my experience with this first one,I think I better stick with my other respectable brand reels,I would not recommend this reel to anyone."
