I put turkey legs in the bait box and sank it off our local pier, I left it in the water for 4o mn and pulled it out with about 15 crabs and some star fish... I kept most of them.. This worked much better that the net trap..."

functionable,July 28, 2008
By Longshot34from Moses Lake, WA
"I used my trap on the Oregon coast. They functioned as stated. I feel the doors are fairly small and the 3" square openings a bit excessive. I actually covered mine with chicken wire. I did most of my crabbing from a public fishing pier in New Port and found it to be cumbersome. I feel the trap would work great from a boat in deeper water."

Great Trap,December 11, 2007
By NotTooCrabbyfrom Seattle, Washington
"My brother an I used a few of these traps one morning off the coast of Washington State and hauled in anywhere from 4 to 12 crabs per pot. The traps worked great! We used Turkey drumsticks in the cage. My kids had a ball and we had a great crab feed that night!"

Eagle Claw Crab trap,August 22, 2007
By oldhillbillyfrom Roanoke, Va
"Bought because if it's collapse feature and used it four days in Sunset beach N C with no results..no instructions with product.Used fish heads in bait bucket, also chicken necks. Never did understand why one of the top round holes the support ring was welded to the frame while the other support ring was tied on with metal ties. Size of mesh way to large to trap any visitors--Very poor design-over priced and now in my garbage can"

Very Disappointed,July 2, 2007
By Sheephead
"We bought this trap to take down to Hilton Head. In the past we've used the cheaper hand traps and caught crabs one at a time. We thought it would be great if we got a bigger trap let it stay over night and get a larger quantity of legal crabs so we could have a crab bake. We got the trap and it came with no instructions or guidlines on how to use it. So I worked at it for awhile and was able to figure it out. We went to Hilton Head put the trap in where we've caught them in the past with great success. We used chicken necks in the feeder cage and let it set overnight. In the mean time my son was using the cheap hand traps and was having success in bringing in crabs so we knew they were there. We went down the next morning we had one large crab (about 8" between the tips) in the trap. Most of the chicken necks were eaten over. I thought that lot of little crabs were getting in eating and getting out. So we brought the trap up and as we were filling it up with more bait the larger crab was able to work his way out with very little effort. We got him put him back in the trap and let it back down hoping we could get some more. We checked later in the evening and not only was the large crab gone but so was all our bait and no other crabs. I would never recommend this product to anyone. No instructions, poor design, and a very disappointed son after it was all said and done!"
