not bad, July 7, 2009
By allboutspecks from louisiana

"Built a lil cheap for the price Cabelas sells it for. I had to secure the rod holders with larger wire ties and the two tackle compartments won't stay closed. The only thing that really worked was the two waterproof containers that are to small for anything, I just removed them. After reworking the new basket it worked fine and did the job."

very cheaply built, March 25, 2009
By dcdfishman from Texas

"Not very well put together.
The straps attaching the basket floats to the netting and the rod holders were all broken. I had to re attach the float to the netting another way. The little takle boxes don't attach at all and the straps that would attach to the float and your wrist or waist had no way to attach except to tie a knot.
It is usable, but I think I wasted my money for the price and what the product does. If I would have been able to look at it at the store and see how it was put together, I would not have bought it.It was not worth the trouble to send it back.I think I could make my own and do a lot better job!

needs some modification, February 4, 2009
By wrightackle from I live in Pensacola Florida and fish the ICW.

"I was dissappointed with how the rod holders were attached with zip ties on the outside of the styrofoam rings. They pivoted too much and your reels will get wet. In saltwater where I fish that is not a good thing. I modified mine by heating the end of a pipe and burning holes thru the rings for the rod holders to fit into. It turned out really nice. The rod holders are stable now and they keep my reels farther away from the water. Just use a pipe slightly smaller than the diameter of the pvc tubes. If you are willing to take a little time you will end up with something very handy."

Good Product, September 3, 2008
By jacmec from Stillwater River, OH

"This is a good product. The net is a little small and the floats just seem a little too wide, but still not a big problem. I have not tried the rod holder or "valuable keeper" yet. The tackle holder does work excellently. Nice long strap so you don't feel like its ridding right on your side."

Beats a single float basket!, August 11, 2008
By TNYHRD from Portland, TX

"Rod holders didn't slip, but I reinfoced them with a zip tie on each float. They can't slip that way! Overall a very good product."

Wading basket with rod holders/tackle cases, August 5, 2008
By grip30 from Boston, MA

"The wading basket works great for holding fish while wading whitout having to head back to shore after each catch. The two tackle cases also works very well for keeping additional items like hoos and sinkers. However, the ord holders does not work as expected. The wading backet tilts over when a rod is placed inside. Overall, the wading basket provides good benefit."

wading basket, July 23, 2008
By Nhan from houston, tx

"The product is a good product. It does it what it is suppose to do, hold your rods and keep the lures dry. However, it just need a few zip ties to re-enforce the tackle boxes and rod holders. The only real complaint i have is that in the picture the net looked long, but when i received the basket the net was a lot shorter. From the end of the 2nd float to the end of the net, it's about 14 inches. However, i enjoy the product and did recommended the product to my friends and family."

Not Happy!, August 6, 2007
By sharkwimp from South Texas

"The double ring flotation is a plus. Especially when basket sits flat on the boatdeck. The rod holders are not secured nearly well eoungh. As soon as you set a rod in the holder while wade-fishing, the holder slumps over to the side and your reel gets wet. It can be jerry-rigged, but so could the one I just replaced"

Wading Basket with Rod Holders and Tackle Storage, November 20, 2006
By brucla01 from East Lansing, MI and Englewood, FL

"Recently I ordered the Cabela's Wading Basket with Rod Holders and Tackle Storage. I found the product to be as advertised and very useful for its intended purposes.

I wade fish extensively. This device is very helpful to anyone who wade fishes either in fresh or salt water. It is both durable and useful.

In fresh water, I fish the local rivers for smallmouth bass. In salt water, I fish the shallow flats along the FL West Coast for redfish, snook and sea trout. I have long been seeking some well designed device that would enable me to carry an extra fishing rod or two, some extra tackle other than on my person, and the capability of holding live bait or holding fish I catch. The Cabela's wading basket serves all those needs.

In addition to two rod holders, which keeps the reels well above the water line, the wading basket also offers two small plastic boxes for tackle storage and a couple of watertight small containers in which you could place a fishing license or folding money and keep it dry. The device also offers a large net that can be used either to hold live bait for fishing, or which can function as a livewell if you wish to keep the fish you catch.

Simple in design, durable in construction and reasonable in cost, the wading basket is lightweight and easy to carry to the water, floats high, pulls easily through the water, and works well. I recommend it to anyone who regularly wade fishes.

Wading Basket, November 20, 2006
By Berry from Swansboro, NC.

"I purchased the Wading Basket a few months ago and have put it to the test. I have had to reenforce both rod holders with additional zip ties for added strength. I also had to reenforce the two tackle boxes buy adding several zip ties per box for added strength. I also used an epoxy to seal the holes in the bottom of each tackle box to prevent salt water from contacing my tackle. While is sound like I am not happy with this product that is not the case. I have pulled around 25 inch red drum and recently pulled around a 10 fish limit of speckled trout between 18 and 21 inched with no problems. My final thoughts are this is a great product but it needs to be stronger. I would pay up to ten dolloar more for the product if it came built strong enough to handle the weekly abuse I put it through."

Bring what you need, October 27, 2006
By ZeroCool from portland, tx

"Seen a few before, but never this sturdy or well equipped. Will hold two rods in rough water, keeps your tackle dry. Great for holding your baitfish or the days catch. I bought one for my self and had to buy two more for friends. Strongly recommended for everyone, will make taking your bait and favorite tackle easier than ever."
