"The River Guide wading jacket is really great to wear on a fall or spring day where you might encounter a drizzle / cool day. It is a fleece jacket with some rain protection that breathes. Not meant for an extremely cold or heary rainy day. Great around the house or running errands. Well made. Have used for steelheading or bird hunting.

"I got this on sale and am pleased. Its lightweight so if you will be in cold weather you will need to layer underneath. Plenty of room and fits comfortably; the sleeves are a bit longer which makes casting and moving about easier. Repels water well enough. It could be improved by adding a few more pockets but that is a minor comment."

"This jacket was perfect for my early trips out to the Provo River in late October and ealy November. It will have even more use in the coming months. It is lightweight enough, yet heavy enough to keep me warm. No complaints about no hood, I didn't want one. The easily accessible side pockets and short length around the waist were perfect. This kept me warm and dry and was not so bulky to interfere with cast/retrieve. Well done Cabelas."

"I bought this jacket because I needed a mid-weight, waterproof jacket to wear this summer in Alaska. It was the most valuable piece of equipment I took with me besides a small box of elk hair caddis and my 4 wt. fly rod! The jacket performed magnificently as it rained lightly every day we fished. I was never even damp inside the jacket. I would have given this garment at solid "5" except that the inside of the jacket has but one tiny velcro pocket that you could not even fit a small fly box in. I saw this same complaint on other reviews and you should consider increasing the size of the small pocket and adding an open topped pocket large enough for a fly box on the other side of the jacket. I plan to wear this jacket in the fall even when not fishing as it is a good looking coat and warm. It also washes up nicely."

"I purchased my first jacket two years ago as a Christmas present to myself. It has been my constant companion since then. It's great for West Coast weather. With a sweater or heavy shirt, comfortable from the 30's upward and on temperate days and evenings, a T-shirt or light cotton shirt.
Even in a moderately heavy rain, the jacket sheds the water and I don't feel wet n' clammy. I liked the River Guide Wading jacket so much I purchased a second. A quality product well worth the money."

"This is a great product. I used this product in early spring in PA. The weather is in the 40's in the morning and then gets into the high 70's in the afternoon. This jacket keeps me comfortable all day. It even works in light rain keeping me dry, I don't think it would work in a storm though."

"This jacket performs as well as I dreamed of. The only reason that I do not rate it a full five stars is the lack of pockets. However, I thoroughly enjoy it not just for the water, but for climbing in Colorado and wearing around town in the early spring. I do not know of any similar product that comes even close for the price. Great Jacket!!"

"I bought this jacket in an attempt to keep warm on those chilly days on Spring Creek. With all rain we had lately it has come in handy. I used to wear an insulated fishing shirt but it never kept me comfortable or dry. I was real happy with the color(green) and the sharp look it had with the chest and shoulders contrasting black. The jacket is warm and provides me with plenty of room to cast and not feel constricted. The wrists have velcro straps that you can tighten that prevent water from running down my arms. I wore it during a rainfall and kept dry, but if it was going to rain heavy for hours, you are going to get wet. The fleece provides appropriate comfort and warmth and for the price I paid I would not feel guilty getting it a little bit dirty. I even wore it snowmobiling."

"This is one of the best deals I've encountered. This jacket is very comfortable and useful(breathable fabric and water proof sleeves) for many other activities, such as snow shoeing, cross country skiing, for a walk or going into town to shop. "I bought this jacket because I had a gift certificate to burn, it turned out better than I could've hoped. The jacket looks good and works great. Perfect for those rainy days where it's not too cold out. Or on snowy days as long as you add another layer underneath. Only down side is that you really can't zip it up all the way to the top with out it feeling awkward. I would highly recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a very dry, light weight outter layer."
