"I purchased this fly reel after reading a favorable reveiw in Field & Stream or Sports Afield magazine. I bought this reel with the intention of using it for fall king salmon fishing in MI river runs. I am very disaapointed with the drag system. It is too light for salmon fishing. I would not recommend this reel to anyone."

"I HAVE FOUR OF THESE REELS. THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL AND FULLY FUNCTIONAL. THE DRAG IS SMOOTH, AND STARTS EASILY. I DO WASH THE CRUD OUT OF THE REEL WHEN I'M DONE FISHING, AS WELL AS RELEASING THE DRAG. AS WITH ANY FLYREEL YOU MUST TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF THE DRAG SYSTEM OR THE COMPONENTS WILL COMPRESS. THE BEST PART ASIDE FROM THEIR BEAUTY IS THEIR WEIGHT;(OR LACK THEREOF) IT IS THE LIGHTEST REEL I HAVE. I HOPE THEY NEVER DISCONTINUE THEM!!!"

"The problem seems to be a quality control problem and not performance related. But I received a reel that is unusable, i tried to unsrew the drag system to make it work but it is totally blocked. What a pity it is sold out, it looks like a nice reel (in my case never tried it)"

"I just got the SLA size 0 reel for my 3wt fly rod. It's a great reel for a small rod. I'vee been happy with it's performance on my favorite little trout stream as well as fishing for panfish. I even landed a large mouth bass and the drag seemed to do just fine. It's a great reel intended for a smaller outfit. The large arbor is great for picking up line quickly."

"This is the first large arbor reel I have owned. I recently used it with my 4 weight on the Deschutes River in Oregon. I really like it cause it is very quiet. All my other reels are somewhat noisy. It was very smooth and the drag adjusts easily. I need to take a bit of backing off the reel to get a bit more space on it for the line. All in all, I am very pleased."

"These reels are second to none in quality make no mistake about it. I have found them to be very well made and designed. Any complaints one may read on noises or vibration during retrieve are due to foreign debris in the reel from stream water. This can be easily remedied by removing the spool and rinsing. This can and does happen to any precise reel.
The look of these reels is stunning to say the least. Most definitely the best looking line holder on the market. Expect a life time of service from these beauties with a little care and maintenance"

"Bought this reel for a trip to Kodiak, AK and was initially very impressed. Awesomely fast pickup, very smooth, lightweight (balanced my rod perfectly), and looks sharp. However, as soon as you get a fish that's big enough to spool some line out, the nut (or screw cap or whatever it's called) that holds the spool on the reel kept coming unscrewed. I would constantly have to tighten it while I was fishing, and even with that, if there was a fish that took an extended run it would loosen and sometimes fall off altogether. The spool physically fell off the rod twice while fighting fish resulting in a tangle and a breakoff.
Overall, seems like a great reel for small fish. If there's a chance you'll get into fish that can actually take line and make you use your drag, I'd suggest you look elsewhere."
