"I've used this rod over the summer fishing for smallmouth and was most impressed with the sensitivity. The lake I normally fish, Trinity Lake CA, is a very popular smallmouth fishery and during the late summer the bigger fish go deep, forcing the usage of jigs, and slow moving techniques. My St. Croix 6'6" M power spinning rod performed wonderfully, detecting very light takes. It also has the backbone and power to haul in massive bronzeback. I would definitely recommend this rod for anyone! pro or beginner!"

"the first time I tried to fish with this rod (its the second one) it broke when I tried to set the hook. the first one broke near the end and it was returned for a replacement. this one broke on the top side of where the two pieces go together. i don't know if these are seconds or just a bad batch but it will also be returned to you."

Broke Twice,

"Really enjoyed these rods while they lasted. One broke on a snag and St. Croix replaced it with the $40 return fee. The second was broken while it was being taken out of a rod holder. (I can't bear to send it in again as I will have over $200 in on a $100 rod).
They are very sensitive to fish with which is great, but...They also break very easily. I know I am bit hard on my gear but I have put many other rods through greater stress without these issues. For my money, I would choose a Fenwick Eagle GT. Just as good and cost 40% less. It has also never broken under more stress."

"I purchased this rod to catch Walleyes in Gods Lake and Brook Trout in Gods River. The two piece 6.5 foot medium light rod performed exceptionally well in both capacities. Light and sensitive but strong enough to fight brookies in the current and take on several good sized bonus pike. Great value and quality."

"I own 2 St. Croix Premier spinning rods. they do exactly what they are designed to do. You can buy more expensieve rods, but you can't buy a better American made rod. These rods have pulled many fresh and salt water fish to the river bank, boat and shore over the last 12 years. Rinse them off with fresh water and dry them off and they will last forever."

"I bought my second Staint Croix premier rod this year. This was a 6' light action spinning rod used with light jigs for walleye and crappie fishing. The feel with light jigs to what the bottom and the fish are doing with the jig is oustanding. It has handle a 22 1/2" walleye and several 6 to 7# catfish with no problems."
