command from any location in the boat. The high-frequency wireless foot pedal is a low-profile unit
that's super-easy to use with intuitive on/off, right/left and variable speed controls, all without the
tripping, tangling and fixed-location hassles of corded units. High-speed steering response is afforded
by a durable, oversized gear box with 1° steering resolution for quick and precise course
corrections and with the purchase of the optional Hand Control Fob (sold separately), you can control the
motor with your thumb. Variable speed capability permits you to precisely control movement through

Great product,July 30, 2009
By cbpetmanfrom Putnam Valley, NY
"I added this motor to my 1990 Bayliner Cobra bassboat last year, replacing the original Motor Guide motor. I couldn't be happier! I like the feature of being able to controll the motor from anywhere on the boat. I fish a lot of tournaments and I always school my non-boater on the use of the key-fob. It has come in handy on several occasions. Some people complain about the beeping that is heard whenever a command is sent to the motor, but I like it. It's telling me that the unit has received the command."

Good product,June 16, 2009
By Bulldog0156from MI
"I bought the 55 pound thrust version for my 16 foot boat. It pushes the boat very well. I like the footpedal. The one thing I noticed that was different from the old Minn Kota that this motor replaced was that the Motorguide doesn't have as fluid of steering. There is a certain set distance that the motor has to move if turning left or right. It isn't a problem for me, but it is something I noticed. Response time of the motor is very quick. Overall, I like this product quite a bit."

wireless foot control is not worth it,June 1, 2009
By mcf113from Iowa
"I owned this motor for one year and decided to switch to a similar minnkota with a key fob control. If you buy this motor, I would try out the foot control first. If you are used to a rocker-style foot control, this one is harder to "manage" since you have to keep track of where the little (bad designed) buttons are on the flimsy little foot pad. The idea of wireless is great, since can put it anywhere in the boat. However, I like to swivel around on my seat on the bow...but you are constantly kicking this little footbad around so you can operate it under your new foot location. My opinion, wireless is only really great if you have the key fob control instead. And, if you like the key fob, then the minnkota version is nicer, mainly because the minnkota fob has these little clip mounts so you can put them right on your rod. THAT is really nice for fishing, you can run around the deck fighting a fish and always have the controller with you. I've owned both the W55 by motorguide and now the minnkota powerdrive V2 with co-pilot, each for several trips. The minnkota is easier to stow and deploy also. The constant "beeping" of the motorguide each time you hit a button also gets annoying. This all being said, it was a very high quality motor and efficient, but I would reccomend the minnkota powerdrive V2 with co-pilot over this one. I bought the version available at Cabelas w/o the footpad, only the key fob."

Second motor,May 18, 2008
By Dennis01from Hurst, Tx
"There appears to be to be some bugs that need to be worked out with these units. I am on my second unit in the past year and now my second unit does not work properly. The first unit overheated after five minutes of operation and shut down. My second unit stops when I tap the pedal for full speed or tap the pedal for the slowest speed. Thanks goodness for the three year warranty."

Great bow-mount trolling motor,July 17, 2007
By cornetbay
"First experience with a bow-mounted trolling motor. Chose it because the mounting base footprint would fit my boat (not a bass boat). Due to the style of my boat, had to fabricate a complex angled base to fit between the boat and the trolling motor base mount. Yesterday was first time using it, and it worked perfectly. Plenty of power for my 16 foot aluminum fish/ski boat. Only negative was having to wait more than 2 weeks for the base mount to be shipped from the factory (it was missing from the box when the motor arrived). Based on my first use, I can see that this motor is going to work exactly as I had hoped it would. Time will tell if I have submitted this review too soon. For now, I would recommend this motor to anyone wishing to go the wireless trolling motor route."

Best for the money,May 31, 2007
By CrazyaboutMotorguide
"I take a lot of people fishing and also a lot of different people use my boat. the controls do take a little bit of getting use to but it does not take long; myself or any others controlling the boat have had a enjoyable time. I can guide in the boat without getting out of the driver's seat. This is the best thing invented since sliced bread."

MOTORGUIDE WIRELESS,May 29, 2007
By TREETOPFLYERfrom CHARLOTTE,NC
"ON A RECENT TRIP TO LAKE WATEREE,S.C. I TESTED MY NEW WIRELESS MOTORGUIDE W55 FOR THE FIRST TIME. ITS AN AWESOME PIECE OF EQUIPMENT. GETTING RID OF MY OLD FOOT PEDAL TROLLING MOTOR WAS THE BEST IDEA I HAVE HAD. IT WAS A MOTORGUIDE AS WELL BUT WAS CUMBERSOME AND WAS AN ENERGY HOG. THE NEW W55 WITH REMOTE IS SMOOTH AND EASY TO OPERATE. I WAS ABLE TO FISH 5 DAYS ON ONE BATTERY. BEING ABLE TO CONTROL THE MOTOR FROM ANYWHERE IN THE BOAT OR OUT IS THE BEST. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE."

SURPRISED,May 16, 2007
By jermccfrom ST. ANNE,ILLINOIS
"I'VE READ A ALOT ABOUT THIS TROLLING MOTOR AND HAD MY DOUGHTS. BUT WAS I SURPRISE WHEN I GOT IT I INSTALLED IT ON A 16 FT RIVER JON BOAT. VERY EASY TO INSTALL. WENT FISHING LAST WEEK AND PLAYED WITH IT IN THE COVE FOR ABOUT 10 MIN . ITS VERY OUIT WHEN RUNNING AND NOT BAD ON STEERING RESPONCE EITHER. RAN MOTOR ALL DAY AND NEVER RAN BATTERY DOWN LIKE WITH OLD TROLLING MOTOR. JUST WISH THEY WOULD CHANGE THE WAY TO LOCK MOTOR UP WHEN TRAVELING ON THE ROAD WITHOUT REMOVING IT. FOOT REMOTE VERY EASY TO USE AND EASY TO STORE AWAY WHEN NOT IN USE, AND I LIKE THE BEEPING NOISE TO LET YOU KNOW WHEN ITS WORKING. I'M VERY HAPPY WITH IT SO FAR AND WOULD RECOMMENED IT TO ANYONE."

"Over all this is a very good trolling motor. I used it on my 17 foot fiberglass bass boat. It has enough power to move my boat around in the wind. You need 2X 12 volts deep cycle battery wired in paralle to use this TM all day along without problem and worries.
You will have some difficult time to install a transducer on this TM. Maybe you want buy the one with transducer built-in. Also, there is a kit you can add to TM make it wireless+sonar ready. MotorGuide kit is about $50-$60 dollars."

Wireless Trolling Motor,April 1, 2007
By flybumfrom Harrison, TN
"I would give this 4 Stars. Easy to install and works great. Only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 being that the foot control could be made a little heavier and more solid. Its extremely plasticy and light. Overall a great motor. Going to purchase the keyring mod next.."

Go wireless,November 29, 2006
By JamestownMuskiesfrom Jamestown, PA
"Works well on my 17.5 ft deep V SC boat. Has plenty of power and the battery meter was a nice upgrade from my previous motor. It was difficult to control at first, but then when we ran out of gas in the middle of the lake, I got the hang of it by the time we trolled it back to the dock. I hope to get the key fob for next season."
