"After catching a 30" striper I weighed it and only came 9.8pounds not right. weighed with a differnt scale came to 13.5lbs. I,ll take the reading of second scale Scale dosn't want to turn on each time you have to push button several times. Not consistant in readings after weighing a gallon of water found to get 4 differnt readings."

An Unusual Disappointment,

"I am surprised to be writing this negative review, as I generally find Cabela's products to be outstanding values. With that said, I have used this scale 3 times. The first 2 times it seemed to work well, though I was a bit suspicious about some of the readings the second time (they seemed inconsistent). I went to use it the third time (one week after the previous use) and I could not get any readings. I have tried changing the batteries, resetting the scale, and everything else I can think of; however, it has simply stopped working. It turns on and shows a zero reading, but that's it...
I take good care of my equipment, this scale was only used in freshwater and was never submerged. It may be a lemon, but based on other reviews of this product it seems as though others have had a strong "hit or miss" experience with it as well.
Bottom line: this seems like a great value at first, but the risk of catching the "big one" and having a high probability of this scale failing simply isn't worth it."

"I use and like many Cabelas products so it pains me to say this. I bought one of these scales feeling confident it would perform like all the other Cabelas products I own. It did not. It weighed a fish that should have weighed 18 or 19 lbs, at 4lb 13 oz. I returned it and got a new one. On the first attempt to use it on a fish, again it didn't work. It weighed a fish that should go 7 to 8 lbs at 2.43. I tried to clear it and it changed to kg's on it's own. Then it wouldn't turn off. I will return it and buy a diffrent brand."

"Scale is a little hard to read but well worth the price. It's not too intuitive to change scale from metric to english units. It might be a good idea to put it on the scale as a guide to change the units. Like the large hook for easy weigh in."

"Just bought this scale and haven't been able to use it to measure any big fish yet, but I have weighed 5lb and 10lb iron plates with precise accuracy. I am sure that it will perform just as well on my next big catch. I could only give it a 4 because I haven't used it in the field yet. I am sure that it will become a 5 when Striper season gets here."

"The scale did not work. It told me a 19lb salmon, was 4lbs. I weighed a 45lb dumbell, it told me it weighed 14lbs... I was totally surprised becauase this is the first cabelas product I have bought in over 20 years that didnt work."

"This scale broke on me within the first 2 months of usage. Pressed the power button and all it showed on the screen was "ERR". Tried replacing the batteries, but it still gave me the same error message. Now it resides in the trash."

"We use this scale not to weigh fish, but babies! It's accurate to 1 oz, which is very nice, and it's extremely easy to use. If the kid is wiggly at all, it's hard to get a stable reading, but we get close enough. Compared to similar scales, it's a great value."

"Eventually returned the original one we purchased for being at times unreliable and hopelessly inaccurate. The replacement is almost as bad. We use it for weighing hay looking to get about 10 pounds each time - sometimes it can't even agree with itself."
