Cooler,

By PPRINCE

"I purchased this cooler to replace a similar rubbermaid that blew out of my truck. Within the first 30 days the hinges and the lid cord came apart. The insulation seems to be okay but not extraordinary. The drain spout is to high from the bottom which makes draining difficult. Cabelas did exchange the cooler for me with no hassle which was relieving. Cabela's customer service is great; this product is average."

"Tough, durable and performs well. It held ice longer than any other cooler I have used. We took a trip and it sat in the back of the truck, in full sun, for 2 weeks. We only had to add ice every 3 days or so."

"This product is great as a day cooler out on the river. It is also a perfet size cooler for the construction site. Only problem is that the hinges are made out of plastic and I can see that down the line these hinges will certainly break...outside of that ya can't go wrong with a coleman"

Coleman 70 QT Cooler,
September 10, 2009
By RHanan
from Oakland, CA

"I am on my second cooler in two weeks. Had to send two of them back because the exterior side walls where the handles attach are loose and de-laminate from the inner core leaving the handles vulnerable to break off or tear the outer skin. If you have one push on the side walls near the handles to see if it is loose. Hopefully my 3rd one will be better. I noticed this while I was carrying my cooler sideways with one arm and heard the tearing noise while I watched the sidewall around the handle area loosen and pull away from the inner core. BE WARNED. I called Coleman to report the problem also."

150 qt Marine cooler,
July 13, 2009
By MSE3

"I ordered this cooler thinking it would be like my older one of the same basic design.
My older cooler had the wood/rope handles and a center hole between the handle where a turnbuckle type tie down could be hooked. The new design with the plastic handle cannot be tied down securely as the plastic handle is slippery and a rope or hook slides fore and aft for the width of the handle. Also the handles require 8 inches of clearance on each end to raise and lower. So if you put the cooler in a restricted corner of your boat you either have to leave the handles up (which makes it impossible to tie down), or if you put them down you can't use them to lift the cooler back up.
My main disapointment is that my old cooler had a U shaped channel around the underside edge of the lid and between the split halves that made the cooler waterproof to rain and spray. The new design is just a L shaped shelf that allows water to wrap around the edge and accumulate inside. (See Coleman's site for a picture of the lid partially open) So it cannot be used for dry storage and ice is contaminated/ melted by saltwater spray if its a choppy day on the water.
On the plus side, the metal hinges and cable for the lid is an improvement. The divider/cutting boards with the molded in slots is very useful.
If only it it had the original better sealing lid design, I would rate it 5 stars. The handles I can change out. The latches are OK."

150 qt. Coleman Marine Cooler,

"I purchased this cooler as a birthday/father's day gift for my husband. It is one of those items that he would want and use, but probably not buy himself. It is very large and seems like we could pack it with just about everything we would need for a long weekend (4-5 days out on the boat) - and keep the ice cold. It has two dividers that double as cutting boards (not sure I'd want to do a lot of heavy cutting on them, but they'd do in an emergency, and a tray that is perfect for condiments and stuff that you don't want to sink to the bottom of the cooler. It fits perfectly on the swim platform of our 23-foot Sunrunner. The lid is split into two sections so you don't have to open the entire lid to get what you want. The handles are rather large and even I (a smaller-sized woman) can carry it around (empty). If you're not a boater, this would be great for camping trips as well. My husband really likes it."

Good enough to feed all needs,
November 14, 2008
By CaptGURSEL

"I stay in Turkey in the middle of Eagean seas, the tempreture here in summer above 90 and in winters usually around 45-75. The winter performance is awesome, the numbers are correct IF you do not open the box after you put the ice. In winters normal usage never failed me, i go to fishing sometimes for 3 or 4 days i do not come back from the sea, it's performance is great, ice didnt even seemed like it's melting. I'm only curious about the summer season, will check it's performance. Besides, the plastic metarial seems highly resistant to rookies and kids :) they couldnt strach it still. This is the third time i'm buying this product and i offer everyone who cannot afford more for a cooler, this is what they are looking for."

"cooler was advertised in Cabela's to hold ice for six days. Mine held ice for two days in 90 degree heat. It has thin insulation layer and may not even be a six day cooler because nothing on the cooler label or insert mentioned holding ice for six days. I am disappointed with this product."

Coleman 70qt,

"I haven't yet had a chance to actually use this cooler in the field because of the time of year I bought it (plus it was on backorder for nearly a month) I like the cooler, & I liked the price. I like the metal (SS?) hinges better than the plastic hinges on an Igloo. But the closure of the lid is sorta weird. It is an interference 'snap' closed lid. It is difficult to open with one hand.
I will see it in action in the Spring."

"We took this cooler camping with us and it held true to holding ice for 5 or more days. keeping things cold was not any trouble with a couple of bags of ice. Stayed outside in 60 to 90 degree weather. This cooler was so big it held food for all week. I just wish I had ordered it with wheels."
