"I have had nothing but success with these rods. I use the 9 footers for steelhead and trolling for walleye and these rods give me the best fight from the fish I could ask for.

I also use the 7 foot one piece for jigging for walleye and I can feel everything with these rods.

Anyone that talks about these rods breaking easily or on the first cast are probably using them wrong.

Cabela's has always stood behind their product for me, and I am sure they will for everyone else as well.

You need a rod, buy one or two of these!!!!"

Good rod, not enough backbone, October 2, 2009

"I own several Pro Guide rods and have used them mainly for crankbaits and drop shotting with great success. I tried the 7' med. action 1 peice rod for frogging. On about the 15th fish, the rod snapped in two. Landed the fish (about 3 lbs). Wouldn't recommend it for frogging, but otherwise a good rod."

"I bought four of these rods for river smallmouth fishing. I purchased all one piece rods. I know one piece rods are not as convenient, but I live 15 minutes from the river...

2 rods are 6' ultralight and 2 are 7' medium light. Both rods are great. Have plenty of backbone to set the hook, but still have enough play to have some fun.

These rods are 100X better than the Cabelas Classic. I'm still a little concerned about the guides though...we'll see how it goes.

Obviously these rods are not top shelf, but they are very good. Good enough for a river rat like me.

Paired these rods with Shimano Spirex reels....just about perfect."

"I was very dissapointed in this rod. The lower portion (2 pc rod) of the rod broke near the male end on the first use. I found it to be very brittle and inflexible. I will be sending this back for a refund."

"I took this rod to Canada a couple of weeks ago and after the first afternoon out fishing I left all my other favorite rods in the rod tubes in the bottom of the boat. I really liked the feel of the rod, the sensitivity of it even on the lighter bites, and yet have the ability to handle fish as big as a 36 inch northern and 26 inch walleye."

"I like the weight and feel of this rod however it breaks easy and I don't believe the line guides will hold up long on salt water. The guides are beginning to discolor and I assume corrosion will set in soon."

"I've had my nine foot Pro Guide rod for five years now, and I am VERY happy with how it has preformed over the years. No sign of any damage any where on the rod. Of course I transport my rod not only in a rod sock, but in a PVC rod tube that I made myself.

Now my Pro Guide rod is teamed with a Daiwa Regal Plus 3500 BRI real loaded with 10 pound test mono and I have landed several large rainbow trout and one HUGE grass carp this year.

So take care of your rod and it will take care of you."

"I ordered the 8'6" fast action medium power rod and it's fantastic. Very well made and feels well balanced. I only wished this rod would come in a 3 piece version, instead of only 2 pieces. Otherwise, this is a terrific rod at a bargain. I use it for surf fishing."

"I picked up the Cabelas Pro Guide Spinning rod specifically for shore and pier casting off Lake Michigan. The primary quarry being salmonids like Coho, Brown Trout and the occasional line screaming King. Matched with a medium action, high capacity Quantum reel, I was easily able to make casts in the 50 yard range using 1/2 - 3/4 spoons and 10lb Fireline. Good rod choice and an inexpensive option to boot."

"Overall, I am very happy with the rod. My big issue is the action rating. The rod I bought was mod. fast, but the way it handles and feels, you would swear its fast or above, it has alot of play and maybe too much feel. get above 3/8-1/2 oz lures and this sucker will bounce and it gets a little tricky determining whether thats a fish or you're catching on some weeds."

Pier Fishing with Pro Guide Spinning Rod, May 11, 2009

"I went with the 2 piece rod since I was limited with storage while traveling to the coast of NC.

I had reservations on using a 2 piece rod pier fishing because of having seen them come apart while casting.

This rod performed flawlessly while fishing for 2 days down on the coast.

The medium action rod handled the 1 oz plugs and reeling the 1 to 2 pound blue fish and Spanish Mackerel up over the pier railings with out any problems.

I am a fan of this rod now and would recommend it."

"I received the 7 foot Cabela's Pro Guide™ Spinning Rod two days before opening day of Trout season. I was pleased with the fast shipment and secure packaging of the new rod. I rigged it with an Okuma Reel that I also bought from Cabelas East Hartford store and 4 pound test Trilene. Opening day on my first cast I hooked a 14 inch Brown Trout. It was a super experiance. I'd recommend this rod to anyone."

Lure Size Debacle, May 4, 2009

"I think this is a very good rod for the $. You will see some reviews about these rods braking but i have put this rod to the test and it has held up. PROBLEM is, on the web site where you place your order this rod was listed as being able to handle 1/2 to 2oz lure's but when i recieved the rod it says right on the rod that it is for 1/2 to 1 1/2. May not seem like a big deal to you but i need to throw 2oz of lead 100 yards!!! The rod is good for up to 1&1/2 but it will not work for this application. I will keep it for a different application though. Its tough, i was slinging 2oz with it HARD but couldnt make my target due to not enough backbone, Need the 2oz rating for me."
